  1. My first post on this thread. HDR composition of Buffelsbaai taken with Canon EOS 400D, many moons ago.
  2. Nothing a good gunshot to his head won't fix
  3. I'm getting slightly aroused... [edit spelling]
  4. Sooooo I did some browsing last week, and was quoted R33k for the new Anthem X 29'er. Then on Saturday, I saw an Anthem 27.5 with Carbon Front , Alu rear and all the bells and whistles for R32k? But how? Surely this precludes me spending so much cash on aluminium? Or, are we now starting to see another major bike brand follow in the footsteps of another major bike brand selling bikes for hugely exaggerated prices? And there I was looking for a nice full-sus at a respectable price.

    Skills!

Almost makes me want to weep it's so beautiful
  6. Speak to Paul from [GS Sport - edit ] Reliable and upstanding bloke, and a respected Hub trader. http://www.gssport.co.za/wheelset/products.aspx https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum/user/36755-gs-sport/
  7. ¿Eh ? No comprendo! How can these four trails be mentioned in the same sentence with regards to similar technical skills? I have ridden them all, many times, and none of them compare to each other.
  8. No result. It was just him and a mate messing around. They looked pretty chill. Had a bit of a chat about the bike. He reckons it does very well on cross country courses as well as marathon rides. it also handles trails decently apparently.
  9. Saw Nico Pfitzenmaier ride the prototype Stage at Hoogekraal and Conties two weekends ago. That is a really sexy machine.
  10. The REAL problem with the OP's predicament is that no matter where he settles, he will always feel that he wishes he was closer to the "other" trails, like I do. I absolutely wish that Tokai, Jonkers, Elgin, Lebanon, Paul Cluver, Oak Valley, Welvanpas, Tygerberg and Bottelary were all a 10 minute dash from home...damn, these choices....
  11. Welcome to Cape Town firstly Now that the welcome mat is properly out, anywhere is close to trails in CT..Constantia is good, Tokai close and all with plenty of ST and BIG climbs..Speak to the locals though, it is still closed since the big burn of March ..sadly. Northern Sub's are close to both Bottelary and Tygerberg Hills (my haunt) . I ride from Blouberg area for a 10kay sprint before hitting some truly epic trails. Anywhere really, Cape Town is awesome for MTB, but I'm sure you already know that
  12. I will be duly klapping a full on Conties, Hoogies and Meerendal lap tomorrow thanks to this awesome footage.
  13. This is a trail I am now putting on my to-do list... But how about those pics of the night sky...I am completely blown away by the sheer magnitude of the heavens.
  14. I am in the process of saving for a full-sus. The options at present are as follows: Giant Anthem X 29er Scott Spark 950 29er Giant Trance 27.5 ( jury still out on this, I am 1.94m barefoot ) And now this bad boy has just gone and moered a rather large spanner in the works. Any thoughts? Price? [edit] - No worry the price...(cough cough choke) $8900 according to the link...ahem, well okay then. Anthem it is...
  15. Used to live in George, before moving to Cape Town. No ways I will pay R8900.00 for three days of mainly gravel and little single track, but that's just me... Still, the scenery is absolutely stunning, and it would be a great once off. But before I pay that I would just go visit the family and ride the area with some locals... [edit] - Besides, I suspect a large portion of the fees are for the golf... Having played Fancourt, and KNOWING that it is not cheap...
  16. Blacklist. Raymond "Red" Reddington is devious, but brilliant.
  17. To the top of Dorstberg (Meerendal, for those not from the Cape...), while trying to shake a nagging cold. Probably not the best idea I've had in a while, but a whole long weekend and no riding just does not sit well with me...Anyway, I survived it, but was too knackered to care about photographic evidence...
  18. No. just NO! dammit. I seriously would HATE to come across some stravaaashole using his new tech gear glasses to improve on his PB on a segment where even if he busts his lungs and narrowly misses a heart attack on the way to placing in the top 85% on the segment just so he can go brag to his buddies...Really, apart from carrying your phone and onboard GPS, do we REALLY need more distraction on our bikes? methinksnot...also, how many people are going to be killed using this tool. I can only think of how you will end up drifting into traffic while checking the feed and not the road, or missing that crucial berm or switchback and going over the edge into a hodgepodge of broken limbs and EMT requirements. As I said in the beginning, NO. JUST PLAIN NO!
