  1. Cant we do this for road events as well and build a proper system?
  2. ? ? ? I know because I work at Koeberg.? I believe the real reason is for security' date=' no visitors arouns plant during WC.[/quote'] Ah! Must be for security.
  3. Awesome. Goes hand in hand with what people were saying here https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=84286 Once they have enough results in their database and seedings then they can make PPA use those results as MTB seedings.
  4. How did you find out that it will be closed? And has anyone ever seen anyone from koeberg out in the tracks? I mean if you got stuck out there you are stuck. Unless you see another rider. I have never seen them patrol or anything.
  5. And now you are probably going to say that you are not excepting my R200 notes either.....
  6. Thats so funny. I come past your work every morning. I just miss your office on the way home. I like to come out at florence rd because there is a 4 way stop. Otherwise cars dont give you a chance. Isnt there a doctor at that corner where you work? It would then just be easier to meet up closer to your side. Maybe on the corner of florence? Ill pm you my number quick. Reply back with yours. Then I can sms you when leaving and I will be there within 3-5 min I recon. (depends on crossing the rd and robot)
  7. I did cycle in this AM. I was thinking about taking the car home after looking at the weather prediction they are predicting rain, snow for tomorrow. I took a good look at windguru now though and it seems that the rain should only get bad tomorrow afternoon which means that I can cycle in again tomorrow and then take the car home. Where is DF malan? I probably cycle past it, but I am so focused on the traffic that I seem to miss landmarks. Otherwise, why dont you come down to the sanlam building and then you can add a extra few km to your ride? I will send you a easy map of how to get here. Where do work?
  8. Ok, I generally get away at around the same time. So we can definitely do this now and then. Which building you in? How soon are you keen to start? Do you need to make special arrangements to make this work?
  9. And that is why all our best riders are leaving the country. If south africa's "trademark" road race cant even set the example of how we should look after our local guys then what future is really being paved out for our development riders that the ppa is pumping money into. It is like putting someone through college when you damn well know that there is going to be no jobs for them when they qualify. And if you are lucky enough to finish very top of your class then just maybe you can work overseas for a few years but otherwise you pretty much have nothing. If the big races start looking after our locals properly the effect will trickle down into other leagues as well.
  10. ok. Well if I want to get in a longer ride I will let you know then we can meet up in the morning. If you ever want to do a short morning ride, and leave by 6.30 let me know and I can make arrangements at home to leave a bit earlier. I can always pop in at gym then or something if I have extra time to kill. What time do you leave in the afternoon?
  11. That is so funny! Where do you work? I normally leave at around 7, from my house. I live almost on the corner of gie and raats. What time do you need to be at work? Do you have showers there?
  12. Hey Hairy, No, I go to belleville. So koeberg rd, plattekloof, hendrick verwoed, frans conradie and a cut through the suburb to get to sanlam. Is quite lonely on the road. Just me and a bucket load of cars. Guy who works with me joins me once or twice a week. How many guys join you now?

    Racetec....

    Thats just not fair....
  15. If you are keen on doing the same thing on weekend mornings I may be keen to join. Maybe a bit later though - like 5 or so. Need to build up my base. DC is getting closer and closer again. I commute to work so I wont be joining you for the weekdays though. Where do you normally ride?

    Racetec....

A few points to resolving your pains: Full sentences. Complete words. Correct spelling. Punctuation. No obscenities. Politeness. Contact Racetec. Their email address and telephone number is available. On their website!Average speeds can differ for two riders covering the same distance in exactly the same total elapsed time. This is true especially with cycling computers where time spent at stand still are generally not factored into the equation where average speed then equates to distance divided by riding time.Business processes are business processes' date=' and things happening on a Sunday night / Monday morning will not miraculously start to happen earlier.Nothing will change between rolling over the timing mats, and the results being published on the internet! So just relax, recover from the race and keep the blood pressure down. The results will be taken into account for seeding purposes the earliest in four weeks time![/quote'] It does make me wonder though if they should run a 7 day open shop. If they dont have enough staff to do that, then give them off during the week. But most of the time, if there is a race on the weekend, most cyclists want to get home and see their results. I get home, all amped because I had a great race. But now I dont know if I came 3 or 5 in the sprint and how much behind the winner we were etc. To wait sometimes 3 days to get these results is really not lekker. By the time they are up, I almost dont care about them anymore. Even if they had to use 3G to upload the race results as it happens it would be fine if they went to the office on monday to sort out the crap then. It is easy for anybody to see the invalid results so we could ignore that when we are looking at the results when we get home. David, maybe we should add this to our list to the PPA? I know it is a separate company, but I am sure the internal ties between the companies are so strong that we could motivate the change over there as well.
  17. Argus prize money? What a joke. 16k for the worlds biggest race. I remember how Malcolm complained. after team, managers etc there was peanuts left for him. What did Bellairs say about it?
  18. Yep, cycle tour does make a lot of money. And remember that most of the operating costs are donated. (Pick n pay, argus, coke etc) So there is a lot made from it. Yes a lot does get put back into the community, but it would appear that maybe certain of these funds should have been directed differently to address some of the current issues.
  19. I get a skin irritation on my upper legs after a few days of commuting. Almost on the line of padding stops. It could be a few things, Maybe a lycra allergy? But surely I would suffer everywhere then? Maybe there is some material (nylon maybe) in the stitching that is nailing me? But it is all my shorts that irritate it? Or else could it be that when I get home I dont always have time to shower straight away? I dont use any creams etc. But I tried putting some aqueous on it this morning before my ride and it did seem to make it a bit better. Any thoughts?
  20. Thinking about the structural differences (how different the top of the rim looks) between the clinchers and tubbies. Thinking out of the box now. (I know that you did say tubbies, but am just wondering) Surely the strengths would be different?
