  1. We (2 of us) rode this a couple of times without issue. Decent shoulder to ride on, although glass have been an issue going past Leondale area. Saw some guys riding on their own as well. Road should be fine, but like with any area these days, you can never be to safe.
  2. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/473654/scott-aspect-26 I was thinking something like this (seller seems a little suspect), but at around R2 - R2,5k Let me know if you find something. I will contribute to the cause.
  3. Agree, and also willing to contribute. Only problem is the OP believes a bike of this value will be stolen again, hence the reason he is looking for something a lot cheaper, that might not attract attention.
  4. Anyone has any idea what the profile for this would look like ? Elavation gain... I understand it will be different from the 3 day event. No Iconic climb, some tar roads etc...
  5. This looks interesting. Website does not have a lot of info yet. Start times every day ? Waterpoints ?
  6. I do not have this in my favour.???? Apologies for the thread hijack.
  7. In my case, I already have the M8000 on the bike, but do experience brake fade from time to time on the front when doing technical descents. I see this as an "upgrade" to M8020 on the front. Rear is not a problem. Thought if I am going to do this, I can just as well do it on both bikes, instead of going full 4 pot on one bike, which I feel would be total overkill.
  8. Following the response here with interest. I am planning on mixing a set of XT M8000 & a set of M8020 on 2 bikes. 4 piston (8020) on the front and 2 piston (8000) on the rear. Got the idea from reading reviews on the Magura MT Trail set.
  9. This is the one ! When they released these frames, this is what I imagined mine will look like. Very nice !!
  10. Thought as much. Wanted to propose a deal that could benefit us both (Maybe me more than you), but knew they would not just give you the steel frame as a replacement. Good luck with the repair. Hopefully you are back on the bike soon.
  11. I find that strange. I could only insure my bikes on out-and-about. after explaining what the intended use was, it was the only option.
  12. I see mention made of 2 types of black stanchions. If I have the "cheaper" version and the black is coming of, is there a way to remove the black completely and have "silver" stanchions again ? No real wear, just the black coming off. I see all these solutions like oven cleaner etc..., but would that in any way impact the integrity/strength of the stanchions ?
  13. Don't think it will fit in the triangle with 2 cages. I just fitted the 260mm rail on the front of my seat post with a second cage lower down (front of seat tube, but above top tube.
  14. Hi Barry. No, have not found yet. Will PM you.
  15. Morning. Anyone know where I can find a preload cap for a Shimano Hollowtech crank ?
  16. I like Trek. Ride one myself, but man that just seems a lot of money for not a lot bike. Yes, 12 speed, if that is what you want, but really entry level 12 speed. The rest also very entry level. Judy Silver, MT 200 brakes. My first reaction is that you should be able to get so much more secondhand, but with prices where they are at the moment, maybe not.
  17. I have enjoyed this TdF discussion quite a bit, but now this Hamilton name keeps popping up. I guess I will have to avoid this thread from now on as I still have nightmares of what happened in the F1 world yesterday.
  18. Point B would be a little more difficult to quantify. 1 x 11 could be worth around R 4,000 if done with decent components (XT/GX ??) - How many km's after upgrade ? Suspension service could be worth up to R 5,000 if done by the correct people (Stoke or similar for fork and shock), and bearing kit fitted properly. - How many km's after service ?
  19. I sold my 2016 model (black and yellow frame) for R 15k some time ago. (no upgrades) With today's pricing, I would guess R 16k - R 18k would be fair for the same model. I would not go any older, as in 2016 they changed the frame design with a better supported seat tube/top tube (where they used to crack before)
  20. I am on the edge of my seat everyday hoping he survives another day (and I do not even like the guy). I even worked out this whole thing, and concluded that MC wins green by 2 points in Paris, with WvA winning in Paris. And then yesterday happened. Aaah forget it, just enjoy every day and see what happens. Brilliant tour so far.
  21. ????, just corrected my post. 22 minutes.????
  22. I think you might be looking at stage results of yesterday. Tim is Lantern Rouge at 3H46'39" of Tadej. Cav about 22' up the road, although only 3 spots.
  23. I was really hoping for Cav to get to 35 wins and keeping Green all the way to Paris, but must admit, with the way Matthews is fighting for that green jersey, maybe Cav to 35 and Matthews in Green in Paris would not be a bad result either. I did not for one minute expect the top 3 to be like that yesterday.
  24. Agree. Those are the coil XCT & XCM models. Think you used to get a coil XCR as well, but now the XCR is a very decent air fork. Their Air forks are not bad at all.
  25. Suntour Epicon all the way, when comparing to Recon Silver. I had the Raidon in my HT and it worked well without any problems. My son still has it in his Titan, and still working well. Epicon is higher spec than the Raidon. Probably around Reba level ?? or there about in my view.
