  1. Just a little message................ I recently spent nearly ten days in a coma after banging my head in a car crash, I'll never ride without a helmet. now when will they make wearing helmets in a car compulsory?
  2. I see a bi can of worms opening Surely Cycling SA should do something on behalf of cyclists, act as a negotiator with its members and the roads dept.............after all it is cycling's national body......!!
  3. Good point Big H, but now you're going to be the most hated person on this forum. Nobody should be in the emergency lane unless it is because of an emergency. Surely this is where Cycling SA should be making itself heard!!
  4. You're lucky. Following a recent car accident in Portugal I lost my wallet, cell phone, shoes as well as the clothes I was wearing. Oh yes and here I'm missing a Toyota Corolla and a Honda CX500.
  5. go big, spend a bit extra and get a full sup..........
  6. I use Finish Line Cyvles near Egypt, but they're a cool bunch. No discount, but the cofee's good and Clint smiles a lot when you give him money.

    MTB Pedals

Cheap pedals wear out quickly and are expensive to repair......that's why I bought the cheapest eggbeaters.............they last longer and a fairly cheap to repair. My R250 cheapies cannot be serviced, but the R400 Eggbeaters can..........you decide!
  8. I was recently injured in a car crash and discoveredc 18 days in ICU makes fitness disappear quickly. Problem is I also suffered swollen brain, punctured lungs, broken ribs and broken shoulder. A doctor at hospital said he had no problems with me cycling, but my balance is way off and I don't quite know what to do. Normal doctors don't understand!! Surely there must be some doctor types who read this site?
  9. Why doesn't Cycling South Africa do something like a cycling awareness campaign? It could be a very good opportunity for CSA to show that they do actually care about cycling. The motorcycling community have their "Think Bike" programme which I'm sure does some good.
  10. My final point on the matter. Imagine I am a sponsored professional rider, meaning that various sponsors pay me money to cycle competitively and that is all I do. To keep my sponsors happy, I need to give them some return on their investments otherwise they will be reluctant to renew the contract at the end of the season. To keep my name in lights (and make said sponsor happy), I happily 'borrow' pics off a website to use on other sites etc. At the end of the season happy sponsor renews deal worth R100k............photographer remains poor. That is what is happening out there.

    Bike bags

I've given up with this idea. Iberia say bike, box etc will be weighed as part of normal baggage where max is 20kg and will be charged as excess weight at a rate of 1.5% of the value of the highest Tourist Class adult fare for a one-way journey without stopovers (class Y) in force on the date on which the excess luggage ticket is issued. The above applies regardless of the service class in which a flight booking has been made. Also passengers in the cheap seats are only allowed 1 piece of checked baggage.
  12. I posted a pic.........can anyone see it and it is a copyright free image so anyone may use it!!
  13. You've hit the nail on the head, most people don't think of it as theft, and I don't really mind my images being used by competitors on websites, but it is the print media which causes all the problems. ...............now if I could only figure out how to post pics on this site........
  14. As a person who earns (attempts) a living from the art of sports photography, I have become reluctant to post any pictures on any website, unless the images are so small they could never be used in print. It is sad, but nobody respects copyright laws and the cost of trying to force the end user to pay for the pic simply isn't worth the effort. People who STEAL should be punished, whether it is a top line Trek of Cycle Labs floor or a picture from the internet.
  15. ah.............politically correct version of Glenda Kemp!!!

    Bike bags

I'm going to Portugal and was thinking of taking my bike ....... where can I get a bike bag and anybody else travelled on Iberia with a bike?
  17. Anyone know anything about a new mtb magazine ........... said to be launching very soon
  18. Damn!! they do these sex change operations good these days.......
  19. Ah!! You suffer from a medical condition called DFFLS (dreaded flying feet and leg syndrome.) I really isn't a problem as a frequent long haul flyer I find if I sleep upside down with my knees bent over the headrest of my seat I arrive on the other side with normal sized feet. However, my ears, nose and lips tend to be a bit swollen..........but that's because the oke next to me keeps klapping me to stop me snoring. As for the swollen calves, that is unavoidable when flying cattle class.......upgrade to business class or fly with little goats instead, although the kids might annoy some of the other passengers............
  20. .........catching a roadie and when you say hi, he looks down at you as if you're scum or something. What is it with these arrogant skinny tyred pricks - specifically the oke on the the blue GT going up Linksfield road towards Edenvale on Sunday at about 10am...............Chuck Norris will get you!!

    Track racing

    huh..................I see the pic!!
  22. ever thought there may be more than one R. Hunter on this planet..........I know one who who drinks copiuos quantities of Hankey Bannister (cheapest whisky) and has never, ever ridden a bicycle although he does own an ancient Honda three-wheeler - remember them?????
  23. I agree with Colonel .............. racing includes talent and marketability and if you can't spell the basics then there's no hope......................that's it!!
