medupi is seriously flawed, but there are solutions: one is to derate the power station, the other is to replace the pulverizers. the PF quality is not good enough for the boilers height (it's too short). I've always maintained that there are good enough ppl within eskom, but they are being sidelined. The rank incompetence was predominantly at management level, but i'm afraid that over the past few years, that incompetence has started saturating the non-managerial roles as well. Eskom's problems are no different from those of government in that the pervasive incompetence in government is mirrored in Eskom's structures. And like in government, where good ppl are being sidelined and bullied into silence and inaction, so too are the good ones in Eskom. Get those good ppl going again, and I believe Eskom can be pulled straight. But it's not going to happen overnight. I'd say at least 3 -5 years to start seeing greenshoots. the key is getting the culture right,a nd currently, it's extremely toxic.

this is key to appreciate: there's current state nuclear, and future state nuclear. I'm not a supporter for the former. At all. the world should plow money and focus into efforts like that of Mr Gates and the proposed travelling wave reactor. Not all nuclear is the same, and in the hype/rush to save the planet, ppl are falling for the joke that is the current state of nuclear. Renewables can fill the gap.

don't forget the michelin wild enduro's. Can't hold a candle to the sidewall support of an SG carcass, but grips like stink. Rolls just as well. But the outright grip champ has to be E13. But it comes with a price, and it's not the RRP.

nah. the pressure wave spreads out in a cone behind the aircraft's leading edge that creates the compression. Where that cone hits the water it will effectively be a line perpendicular to the point of travel. like so... To create that level of upwash requires a massive localized drop in pressure above the water's surface. Unfortunately, even the trailing vortices generated by all aircraft, don't drop air pressure to that degree. That looks more like the spray created by a very high powered watercraft than an aircraft.
