  1. True. But do you think they going to institute some changes to prevent repeat winners? I mean lets face it: Tia and Matt smoked the competition. Matt's 60sec time penalty only created illusion the others had chance.
  2. thought the phrase was milking a dry cow. Kidding aside, this bit of legal action has been boiling for a long time now. It's curious that it has been splashed over the front pages now only. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the eskom executive weaponising public opinion against the senior personnel. What is not stated is that the unions ground&pound eskom into agreeing to a 3-year MYPD-like annual salary increase for staff that fall within the so-called bargaining units. For them the increases are 7.5% (2018), 7% (2019), 7% (2020). Middle management increases were pegged to a warped version of inflation.
  3. So unsurprisingly, Tia and Matt crushed it again. the latter's win might be somewhat controversial given he "only" had time points deducted when he seemingly did not realize a weight sack fell out of his weighted vest. Irrespective, i think he is a deserved champ. disappointed with Horvat's showing. Really thought she was going to go toe2toe with Tia. But i guess there were warnings given the sanctioned events she participated in: she was way off top performance. Came in looking super swole though..
  4. oh yes, i'll gladly take another dose of this kind of creepy
  5. very appealing for some reason
  6. The Boys - another counter popculture approach to superheroes. Frst ep in and i'm interested. Reminds me of the recent movie, Brightburn, which also took a 180 from the current approach to supers. Found it creepy AF.
  7. very interesting!
  8. are the entries open yet on Entry Ninja? Searching yields nix other than rounds 1 and 2, and the all-season pass. But nothing for round 3 only.
  9. Have you discussed this with the doc? Are you considering reporting that doctor to the health professionals council for a bit of probing? there's a 100 thousand reasons to look a bit closely.
  10. i'm keen to ride the magic carpet.
  11. Sweet Protection Arbitrator https://vimeo.com/323405540
  12. entry link was surprised all the info on the entry ninja page wasn't on the event's page linked in the OP. Takes 3 hops to get all the necessary info. Not alot of work, but honestly, it's meh
  13. hahah ya, that scene was pretty cool.
  14. piston ZA: please note what is not transferable: radiation vs radiation sickness. One is cause, the other is effect. I think your initial statement highlighted by Marko unintentionally created the impression that you do not understand the difference. I don't disagree with the article, except to caution that simply washing skin or clothing doesn't get rid of radioactive particles: the cleaning must be to the point of removing it completely, or reducing the dose levels to acceptable levels. But up until that point, hot particle transfer can happen. The sickness induced cannot. The industry refers to these transferable hot particles as 'nuclear fleas'. Depending on radiation is emitted, viz alpha and beta radiation, if it stays on the skin for instance, it might not have an immediate impact as skin 'blocks' those types of radiation. Ingested though, a whole different story irrespective of it's energy. Ingested ionizing radiation is bad news. What the article doesn't mention is activation products: these are any substances that become radiactive once sufficiently exposed to sources of radiation. You cannot simply wash the radiation away. Depending on the dose emitted by the activated substance, the stuff may need to be quarantined from the outside world.
  15. Stranger Things Season 3 - not sure if it's the best season. Last ep was the best of the lot. Season 4 might be the season to wrap it up properly as there's a few surprising happenings in season 3 that need some 'closure' . Was not stoked for the product placement. It was not subtle.
  16. Is that a Pole clone? <-- not a criticism.Something about imitation and flattery.
  17. That was just what i saw transcripted. no insight. useless! She looked weird, that odd grin on her face, like she was possessed. I thought the act of trying to check out had flicked a switch buried deep in her pysche by Kilgrave, and the voice of Kilgrave was an audience cue that HKGK. That he finally had the full control over her that we thought he had, but was later proved in season, as self-delusion on JJs behalf.
  18. Binged The Hot Zone. effectively, it's the story of Ebola and it's presence in the US. Good story, can be nerve wracking, and make you somewhat paranoid. Was ironic that watching it today, and my cat comes in paws soaked in human excrement *shudder*. Poor kitty. I just got level 4 decontamination training thanks to The Hot Zone. It was not happy.
  19. Errm, what happened in the last ep of Jessica Jones, where she's at the ticket counter?
  20. those wheels. yum!
  21. she is. very.
  22. the consensus is that he is a victim of chernobyl. But getting an official statement to that effect is going to be impossible. Even today,. the russians heavily dispute the number of deaths that can be attributed to Chernobyl, especially those that started expressing effects a long time after the event. In isolation, each person's long term health issues look random, but taken across similar age groups with similar exposure levels, there is an undeniable pattern. Fukushima is going to have the pattern. Radiation effects don't care how you spin the story now. It will eventually tell you the truth. Just count the coffins. The nuclear industry is very much in the some denialist mode wrt effects and extent of catastrophic reactor failure as the carbon fuels industry and consumers were/are about their impact on atmospheric CO2 and methane levels. Look at the silly debate about which accident is more disastrous: chernobyl or fukushima. Pointless hairsplitting of the highest order. Disgraceful.
  23. no, we a had discussion about what happened and his involvement a long time ago. The guy told some stories that made you look at him funny, but once you fact check the details, the truth of it all makes you want to worship the guy. He left south africa a few years back, so only heard of his passing via-via. He was a guru in nuclear power generation accident analysis.
  24. i knew someone that was there, who was called in as part of the crisis management team. The show brought back some memories of his recollection of events after things went pop. He used the words shameful. The Russian version is going to be interesting. He recently passed away though. Cancer of all things.
