  1. My Garmin 500 also lasted for +-5 years. Looks like these newer Garmins aren't strong.
  2. Last week Monday I send mine in, and on Thursday it was replaced with a brand new one after paying R1800. It looks like the life span of these 520 units is around 18 months then you need to fork out +-2k for a replacement...my question is,is it really worth it to pay 2k every 18 months for a bike PC? If something goes wrong again the next 18 months I will have to consider buying a Wahoo.
  3. Over the weekend Zwift deducted R145.00 from my account for November subscription. When is the increase effective date?
  4. This intervals.icu is amazing...much simpler to navigate as compared to golden cheetah, especially for us clever guys. I am very happy with what I can see now but I will do specific intervals during the week to test it even more.
  5. Job

    [Event] TrapNET 360

    Excellent race.
  6. You guys are machines! please share that asthma pump with the rest of us.
  7. Is it only Alpe Du Zwift you did in 1:27:00 or is it the whole route from when you start riding to the top? I did Alpe Du Zwift in 1:24:17 last night but the whole Road to Sky Route, going up and coming down was 2hours.
  8. Just ordered mine last night and quickly called them by midday to change the colour, they had to call back the courier to come and change it. Happy with the quick reaction thus far. Looking forward to testing it this weekend.
  9. I tried to make myself a starring by helping out in the front of the BL group. It was not a good idea as I got to be spat out of the back after a few kilometers when we were about 7km to the finish line. The guys who were hanging at the back managed to finish nicely with the bunch. I liked the slow start building up nicely as we were warming up, unlike AL which usually starts as if its a 100m sprint competition. Nice race overal - I will do it over and over again.
  10. Nope, cloudy maybe but no rain.
  11. Almost missed last night's cut-off online entry, I thought it was closing today. In 2016 the weather was very bad with the rain, wind and very cold but I got my best seeding. Looking forward to this race.
  12. You should also thank me for voluntarily escorting you guys with my big boy scooter
  13. I'll miss this one, it has too many wrongs that rights - high fees, number collection, weekend after R4S.
  14. Yes I have sliding doors made of wood and glass. Did anyone notice my chamois cream on the table? No cyclist can survive without it :-)
  15. Ok I get it now. However the average speed on strava remains unchanged which then differs from racetec.
  16. I started in AL, at 36km I got dropped, tried working with two other gentlemen for a while but we werent strong enough to catch the bunch. At 60km I was caught by a second AL group (twas dropped earlier). At 80km I got a flat front tyre.At 84km another flat tyre on the back wheel. My Garmin shows 2:40 (set to pause when I stop) but on strava it is 3:17 which is the same time as the time on Racetec. Does strava ignore pauses on workouts when getting data from Garmin?
  17. Rain can be funny at times...it might open up for the first 50 - 60km then bam it pours heavily and you have nowhere to hide . I have already paid, and so I am just bracing myself for any conditions.
  18. Very interesting and thought provocative questions... we will learn a lot from the response.
  19. So I cant use it to judge the possibility of a sub 3 94.7? The organisation of this event was superb! I liked the fact that there were cones to protect riders when warming up on the road from the robot to the start. I've noticed that as I get fitter and older I take longer to get warm.
  20. Started in BL, got dropped at around 60km with a sizable group, pulled it back to the main bunch thereafter I was flat. Hanged in there until 89km right turn I had to kiss the group goodbye. There was a nice tandem M/F who came passed and told me to climb on...tried but I couldnt...then TT'd to a just-just sub3. Now I am hoping for a sub3 947.
  21. Just got an sms and email to collect my number at cycle labs and venue. What should be the target time to finish this race if I am aiming to do a sub-3 for 94.7?
  22. Was in BL and got dropped around 15km, luckily I hanged on to a passing group that pulled me back into the main bunch. Again at 48km I was dropped then 3 guys came passed, I hang on their wheel as they were alternating to pull from the front to take us back to the group. I would have loved to help in the front also but I just did not have the legs. So what do u do when you are in such a situation, do you just let them go because you cant help pull or you suck the wheel until you are back in the group? I chose the latter and I know many hubbers don't approve. But at least I had the courtesy to thank them for their efforts. At times you don't suck the wheel by choice but its because you are finished. Well there was nobody to help at Hekpoort I just saw them riding away.
  23. My 6 years old daughter is ready to win the 6km MTB race. Is there a humper or trophy for the winner?.....trick up the sleeve.
  24. Eish not good news. Is there a possibility of cancelling the race due to these protests?
