  2. Yes was a better route from last year some great single track added liked those 2 sections through the tree's Mud wasn't too bad but grass in cassette was interesting rode a semi auto gearbox for quite a while I enjoyed it had no problems with route marking did go wrong at start of second lap missed the gate because the tape broke cutting off the first lap route but no hassles good morning out. Had a couple beers with Big toe and Gt racing Saw you on your rigid Eldron but was unable to keep up for a closer look how did it go?

  12. Was there on Tuesday Stans rim tape 149 bucks quart of stans 229 I wont scare you by posting what some others are charging I actually made a point on complimenting them on there realistic pricing basically in line with CRC give or take 10 bucks 5 bombs for 50 bucks Ended up between 2 of us spending 1600 rand on "consumables and stuff" prices were excellent from lubes to tubeless puncture kits multitools powerlinks tyre levers etc we really stocked up.
  13. Yes started today Wayne and his mate Kevin are in (they rode with us before from Northgate) Myself You and GT racing and your other buddy? so already 5 or 6 of us We will leave from the virgin active in Little Falls @ 6-30 Route is still negotiable as ride progresses but I think through the quarry to teak plus a lap or half lap of teak and back through cradle would give us between 75 to 90 kms Hopefully Fowlstart GuyP IFLY Mr T and Eraser will see this and come with if available plus anyone else is more than welcome to join its not a race just want to get decent ride in so we will ride at whatever pace is comfortable for all. Be nice to get a good sized group http://www.virginactive.co.za/clubs/view/66#timetables Gym is just off hendrik potgieter link above
  14. I have purchased and weighed 3 UST Racekings in past few months 740 745 and 745 thats for the 2.2 (not even close to the claimed 700) UST Mountain king 680 and 685 also in 2.2 Race king protection 585 in 2.2 (you can really feel the diff when holding this in one hand and the UST in the other) I cant really work out why the big discrepancy in weight UST to protection on the Raceking compared to the small diff on the mountain king About to start riding the protections from this weekend so will see how they go Mountain king protection 640 in 2.2 surprisingly only 40g lighter than the UST version
  15. 2.2 will be fine
  16. I dont think majority but you certainly have a valid point and the if you cant beat them join them is spot on as to the reason for this and its not just sad its dangerous and scary
  17. They are a law unto themselves and getting worse
  18. Anyone want to ride Tom morning
  19. Wow that really is impressive components for that price
  20. I mounted the mountain king protection yesterday on my front wheel firstly what a pleaseure to fit on the ZTR crest could just about get it on by hand Inflated it first without any stans to see how it would hold pressure sealed almost perfectly did a test in the pool and only had 2 little pin prick bubble leaks on the bead which i think with a bit of fiddling would of been easy to eliminate anyway deflated chucked in 2 cups stans inflated span wheel once did pool test 100% sealed This is with yellow tape and olympic valve Feels Nice and light Just waiting for my yellow rim tape to arrive so I can mount the Raceking on the rear then I can give them a good test as I found out 1 roll does 4 and 9/10ths of a 26inch rim not 5 like stan says maybe my overlap was a bit to generous on the other 4
  21. had a crash free ride Wednesday Anyone want to ride this Sunday ? meet at gym at 6-00 or 7-00 whatever time I am easy Who's in
  22. Well on the way home I found a set at a bike shop in Rumsig so bought them to try For interest the 2.2 M/king weighs 640 compared to the 680 of the 2.2 UST so not a huge difference but The 2.2 R/King weighed 585 compared to the 745 of the UST which is quite a diff so at 1265 for protections a set compared to 1435 for the UST versions it is quite a saving The hutchinsons I was running were 1320 so will actually end up with an even lighter set up than before certainly worth a try The protections seem to be pretty solid on the sidewall certainly not the same as the UST's but I think they should be fine. Reason for this is I fitted my XT's back on the bike with Conti UST's overall weight went up almost 600g compared to the ZTR's and Hutchinsons. I am a very average rider but the diff in my bike with the heavier wheel set is very very noticable it feels like a tank
  23. Anyone ran the Conti protections as a tubeless set up? I was thinking of trying a set on ZTR crests as it would give quite a weight saving over the UST's and hopefully better puncture resistance than standard conti's... any thoughts from the experts on this idea?
  24. Very nice great quality video as well
  25. I am thinking of changing from the UST's to the protection versions of the race/mountain king any comments on how the protections shape up as its a nice weight saving over the UST's
