  1. Just as a matter of interest, the FC-M677 (2x10 SLX) crank weighs 722g. The FC-M522 (3x10 Octalink) weighs 686g. So in reality he'll be spending R1700 odd for something that weighs more.
  2. Unless the groupset needs replacement, I wouldn't spend any money on it to be honest. It's perfectly fine for your wife. You will save a couple hundred grams maybe, which in my books is not worth it. Rather look at lighter and faster tyres if she's only gonna be riding tar/gravel roads.
  3. I don't think that something, somewhere is weird to be honest. In 2011 Specialized had a rumoured annual revenue of $500 million. "Bikes are booming today--industry sales in 2011 are up 37%. (Fitness products do well during bad economic times.) Driving the trend are two American companies, Trek Bicycle of Waterloo, Wis. and Sinyard's Specialized Bicycle Components." Source Edit: After some further digging I found a more up to date estimate: "Sinyard, in an interview from his home in Capitola, California, a beach community near Santa Cruz, said he's seen nothing like the COVID-19 pandemic in his 46 years in the industry. But Specialized, a billion-dollar company (more or less) is taking a financial hit like all businesses, he acknowledged, but especially in its overseas operations with so many nations under lockdown." Source With a sponsored teams and riders list that's really not shy: "Many riders in recent years have used Specialized bicycles in the North American and European professional cycling circuits. In 2019, the professional road teams sponsored by Specialized are Deceuninck–Quick-Step, Bora–Hansgrohe, Boels–Dolmans and Axeon–Hagens Berman. Mountain bike riders sponsored by Specialized include the downhill world champion Loïc Bruni, who rides for the Specialized Gravity Team, Finn Iles, Jaroslav Kulhavy, Christoph Sauser, Lea Davison, Martin Soderstrom, Simon Andreassen, Sam Gaze, Hannah Barnes, Annika Langvad, Mitch Ropelato, Curtis Keene, 2:1 Racing, Nicholi Rogatkin, Dylan Dunkerton, Curtis Robinson, Matt Hunter and Howard Grotts. Sponsored triathletes include Brent McMahon, Jenson Button, Rubén Ruzafa, Non Stanford, Conrad Stoltz, Melissa Hauschildt, Tim Don, Lisa Norden, Chris McCormack, Francisco Javier Gómez Noya, Gwen Jorgensen, Lucy Charles and Benjamin Hoffman." Added to that massive marketing and R&D departments, it's no surprise that their products sell for as much as they do, and get sold for as much as they do.
  4. Thanks Cap and splat. We're 3 episodes deep and so damn hooked that we might as well be participating in the Donald Trump thread.
  5. Case in point, at a cool 100,000 Euro The fact is, as long as people are willing to buy them, the manufacturers will keep on making them. The same can be said for the general motor-vehicle market, the most basic 3-Series is R661K. That's just insanity, but people buy them by the thousands.

    Formula 1...

Are there official top speeds for F1 at Mugello though? It's never held a race, and from what I could find only Ferrari test there. Mugello is such a beautiful flowing layout though, I can't even imagine the forces the drivers must go through in all the combination esses. And then up through Arrabiata 1 and 2. It's gonna be glorious!

    Formula 1...

Rumour has it that Mugello will join this year's F1 calendar, and that Imola is pushing very hard to make it an Italian triple-header. I might actually tune in this year...
  8. Anyone know where I can get some machine turned poles in Pretoria/Gauteng? I'm looking for something dead straight of around 75mm DIA, 1.8m length. Thanks!
  9. Can't say that I'm noticing much difference with my NordVPN to be honest. Added to that, they actually have servers in South Africa, so it's not like it's routing to the EU/US, back, and then to wherever it's supposed to go.
  10. Quickly had a look on our online DSTV.com profile, looks like you're able to "disconnect" your package, but I'm unsure about whether this is a cancellation of your package.
  11. Does stacking it not actually exacerbate the issue though? Let's say you add 2.5mm under your right shoe to the 175mm crank side to 'shorten' it. At the bottom of the stroke you'll be at a relative 172.5mm, spot on, but when you're at the top of the stroke, you will actually be at a relative 177.5mm. Right? Edit: Math is hard.
  12. This. Agents love whinging about their commission, but very rarely do they actually put the effort in. Make them work for it.
  13. https://www.eaab.org.za/ Check to see if both of these are actually registered agents first. Then take it from there.
  14. Holy crap. Thanks for sharing this.

Mate, Dorna might manage MotoGP (and WSBK just FYI, not the Italians like you've stated), but they are owned by Bridgepoint Capital, which is headquartered in the UK. So maybe write to them and find out why there is no race at Silverstone? Plus, they are still figuring out logistics of hosting races at COTA, Termas, Chang and Sepang. Maybe you should be thankful that we're actually going to get some racing this year, even though there is repetition at some tracks. Maybe the Spanish government are so inclined to assist financially as they were likely going to lose some races next year (i.e. Catalunya which is only hosting one event). Maybe many of the teams are based in Spain and it makes the logistics a lot easier. But wait!

100%, it has nothing to do with the above.

I stand corrected then, thanks! Or giving someone else another year to consider retirement...
  19. Well I mean, I also have a broker, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm still being charged interest each month. March has been reversed though, in fairness, but the same thing happened at the end of May, again.
  20. So around 4 years ago I kinda fell out of love with my own motorcycle(s), but I never could get it over my heart to get rid of them. So they were put into storage at my mom's place. After the initial lockdown was lifted I thought it might be a good idea to get the Trumpet up and running again, this is the result of a few weekend's work: The amount of joy in that moment was ridiculous, until I discovered the fuel line is leaking and Triumph wants R1600 for a new one

I also think MM93's deal was done a long time before AM73's deal was on the table?

Follow the money. My suspicion is that Pol is bringing massive sponsorship with him. KTM must be so effed off at the moment. They're also losing Jorge Martin (Moto2) to Ducati it seems. They've invested a lot into these riders, only to get abandoned. Honestly though, if Brad got an offer from HRC we'd all be shouting at him to take it, so I get it.

Silly season is in full swing without a wheel being turned! I did NOT expect this Espargaro to HRC move at all.
