  1. There are a couple of things here. First you have to always keep your goals in mind. Training must always be goal orientated and never time and distance orientated. In other words take the time that you have to train and use it to its optimum level to achieve your goal for that session. In short to summarize your goals you want to run a half marathon and complete the 94.7 races. You need a program now. Training is not simply about putting your running shoes on or getting on the bike and thinking because you ran 16km or cycled.a 100km that you are getting better. Without over complicating things if you continue to do this you will continue to remain at the same standard and in some cases your fitness will decline. Rule of thumb in running is that if you can run it in a week you can run it in a day. With Cycling you need to train the distance but of course not every day. You need to assess your goals and decide which of these events are the most important to you and adapt your training program to allow you to peak for that particular event. Your training program should consist of a base, build, peak and taper phase. Each of these phases have their own particular goals. Such as base phase is about fitness and build is about fastness. Get onto a structured program and stick to it, training is not always about effort, intensity and time spent but mostly about how smart you utilize the time you have available to you.
  2. Remember seeing this guy at the Tour of California last year lol - America / Brakpan there appears to be no difference
  3. mmmmmm but you hoes and betaal think they are way to expensive and if you want anything with an m and a dot you better be taking out a second bond
  4. There is SBR Sport and Troi Sport, never shopped at SBR but have always had good service from Mark at Troi
  5. Oh dear smh
  6. Personally I would love to see an online option for Tri goodies. Here in Jhb we have two shops that do tri goodies but they are both in the North. I would like to be able to order online and collect at the local post office.
  7. GPS under your swim cap, not sure if the Garmin forerunners are able to measure the distance but most I know use the GPS under the swim cap method.
  8. Yes you can only ride on the tar. Have done it on both bikes pick your poison
  9. Novel concept but it really looks like it restricts your head movement from side to side when it is in the undeployed position. I would like to see what its safety rating is - nothing like popping your helmet going past an acacia tree.
  10. Here you go, found them Ride the correct way around the park, do not disobey the one way traffic roads. Do not litter, keep your rubbish in your pockets. When approached by park officials for breaking the rules do not swear at the officials and treat them with disrespect. Do not urinate in plain view of other members of the public. Respect the park as a NATURE RESERVE for that is what it is. It is NOT a bicycle park. Please ensure that you respect the laws of the Reserve at all times so other cyclists can also enjoy this wonderful training route.

  12. There was, I have spoken to some people who have been recently and they indicated that there were no problems with entry, there are still however some problems with people not obeying the rules. I had a meeting with them about a year ago and posted some rules here I will try to find them and re post.
  13. RAI normally show it when they are not showing Soccer or other talk show variety things, its a bit of a lottery as DSTV does not show the RAI viewing schedule, ekse DSTV normally has a highlights package available in the evenings.
  14. Spoke to the local car guard at our shopping center, he has to give his baas R300 per day and he gets to keep the difference. Its not the car guards making the money but rather the people who are contracted to run the car guards in the center.
  15. Sorry for the Hijack CycleLINK offers club membership at R200 - R75 to CSA R75 to CGC and R50 to the club, kit is an optional extra but by no means a necessity. This will sort out your license problems
  16. Would just like to extend my congratulations to all the athletes who completed the Specsavers IronMan 2012. We certainly earned our stripes out there Secondly to the people of Port Elizabeth you guys rock, wow what an amazing turnout considering the conditions. Thank you, I am sure if it had not been for the support of the PE people many would have thrown in the towel. Thirdly to the volunteers all of you (except the one guy sleeping on the side of the road up toward mount pleasant) were outstanding on the day and Thank you for looking after us. As for the guy who got a DQ I ran past him when the ref was explaining to him that he was getting a DQ because his mate running alongside him was considered as pacing. I heard a few of the spectators telling the Ref that he was an asshole and should just f off and go home. Not sure if the ref did actually do that or did in fact DQ the participant. I really think that he should maybe have just rather explained that it was not legal asked the friend to stay where he was and just moved on. Anyways congratulations to all those who can now say they are an IronMan!!
  17. Frankly I actually don't care how difficult it is to make a 26 minute package or to film with 7 cameras. What I do care about about is the premium cash which I hand over each month and in return I expect a premium service. Not excuses as to why this service cannot be delivered or how difficult it is to deliver such service. This certainly has nothing to do with about how difficult you perceive your job to be but rather about consumer expectation versus service delivery. The highlites package in question also consisted of 15 minutes of content from the previous day and only 11 minutes of the actual day but I am not going to delve into how I believe that with todays technology you have ample time to put it all together. Afterall I am not in the broadcast industry or so you believe. What I am going to harp on is that whilst you were seeing red you missed the point of my comment. I was rather referring to the fact that we should have had 8 days of live coverage! This is the biggest and best Mountain Bike race in the World and I was merely expressing disappointment that we could only manage to get together11 minutes of the days events. But yes you are right I also have no idea how difficult this is to put together so I'm just going to sit back in typical South African fashion and accept a second rate service (can I say that in lieu of piss poor?) for a premium price.
  18. Was thinking about the coverage last night, the premier mountain biking event in the world and the best South African Television can do is a half hour hilites package - piss poor performance I think
  19. Done 3 - One of the best road races in South Africa but if you have not trained you are in deep do do. Get those climbing legs out for this one. Hope you are in ability of about 10% of your race partner else it can be really tough or really boring
  20. Hi yes this was taken through a 10" Dobsonian Telescope
  21. I would like to see a funrider on Super Cycling next Time Greg Till is on and simply ask him one question. "Mr Till for the monies which I pay you what do you do for me?" I think he will be flicking through another of his Dickens books to try to find a quote which says "little or nothing"
  22. Simple CSA want their cut of the TV Rites just like they take their cut from your license fees, entry fees, club fees and even prize money. Their little fingers are everywhere doing absolutely nothing in return for the monies they are being paid.
  23. Nice pics here, this was my first and probably my best ever astro photo, hope you like it
  24. Well they are now in bed with SASCOC things can only get worse. Think it is going to be pretty much a case of us experiencing higher costs more subsidies and less service right on par with the rest of South Africa's policies.
  25. Wonder how stoked her body guards are about this decision
