I live in Stellenbosch and regularly ride to Franschhoek and back (over Helshoogte) which is about 70km. You can also add on either/or Klapmuts and Somerset West if you're looking for 100km's. 😎 I ride alone and haven't had any issues (I avoid Kayamandi). 🤷‍♂️

Two hours into loadshedding and sitting at 74% battery remaining. I had to turn on the aircon – it's a scorcher today in Stellenbosch. And the dishwasher wasn't quite finished when loadshedding started. 😅

All I can say, having spent (wasted) loads on batteries (alarm, routers, UPS, etc.) over the past few years, is whatever you buy, get a LiFePO4 battery.

I don't even think it's about cyclists vs motorists, people are just generally stupid/selfish/impatient/inexperienced when driving. The number of times I am overtaken in my car, only for the moron to turn left a few hundred meters ahead, forcing me to brake is countless. And it's not only taxis. People just generally drive like ****. As an aside, I've noticed I tend to get a lot more space around me on my bike since I've been riding with lights on (even during the day) – Bontrager Flare R (rear) is really bright and I always run it on the brightest mode.

Opted for the 109km – starting in C. I did the "long" route in 2010 – it wasn't too bad, I seem to recall filling up with water at (one of) the last water points at the top of a climb towards the end. Other than that, I didn't do anything different. #notAracingSnake
