  1. Agreed with this. ☝️ Comes in cheaper, even with import duties and shipping. They are great power pedals.
  2. Filthy Fondo Malmesbury and Hermon last year were awesome events. Great organisation, nice routes and a lekker vibe. πŸ‘Œ Looking forward to Caledon. πŸ₯³
  3. When trying an online store for the first time, I typically send an email inquiring about the stock availability of the item I want to purchase. The speed at which the reply is received (if at all) usually determines whether or not I purchase. Also, the tone and willingness to offer additional help go a long way. Aside from the usual Google Reviews, etc., which is a no-brainer. It's amazing how often you don't get a reply. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  4. And it redirects to https://www.sidisouthafricaza.top 🀣 Looks dodgy from a mile away.

  6. Nice work!
  7. I was wondering the same for the gravel event. πŸ™ˆ
  8. It's an interesting one for sure – the (relative) lack of wind for the rest of the day probably made people question the decision more. It was always going to be windy on Sunday (I was watching the forecast all week for Durbie Dash on Saturday). The CT marathon in 2023 was super gusty in places as mentioned before (Woodstock, Salt River, etc.), but nothing too abnormal for Cape Town. Running UTCT (65km) in 2015 was insane in comparison. Trail running on and around Table Mountain with crazy, wind, rain, and poor visibility all day. There wasn't any talk of cancellation, in hindsight, maybe there should have been? Or we were just tougher "back then". πŸ˜‚ TL;DR: the conditions were 100% fine for running/cycling. The temporary structures weren't which is a fail.
  9. Pretty sure that was 2010, my first. πŸ˜ƒ
  10. ****, that is not cool. Sorry to hear this! 😠

  12. Awesome event. The wind and some of the rutted sections were brutal. Last 15kms felt like they would never end. πŸ˜…
  13. Yeah, good idea. I always parked somewhere around Durbanville Hills, a few minutes away from Durbanville Racecourse, when races used to start there. Easy in; easy out. 😁
  14. The seeding email says A starts at 6:35, the website says 6:45 Arrive at 6 to be safe? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ Parking is going to be fun.
  15. How's the weather looking? 😜
  16. @Slate25 damn, sorry to hear that too. 😞 Were you ok physically? Literally just saw a message on a local WhatsApp group of a rider who escaped in more or less the same location, seemingly today!
  17. https://maps.app.goo.gl/CKtyKiyEng8UwMkK6 This was more or less where it happened. Totally, counting my lucky stars. Having read about so many incidents and seen some horrific photos, I was lucky. Literally as I passed Blue Jay/Timberlea (where I recall a similar incident took place), I was thinking to myself: "How? It's so open here and there's traffic, etc." As soon as I saw the 3 guys, I was like "Oh ****, trouble". Glad my head was up and I was at least aware of my surroundings. Wish I was going even faster... Pisses me off that one of the cops, who overheard me giving my statement, said: "You saw a knife and slowed down?" And then walked off with a smirk on her face. 🀬 I just didn't have enough speed (or so I thought) and didn't want to risk a 50/50 chance to get past the first guy, with the fear of getting knocked off and being completely disabled and injured. Tried my luck to turn around, but just wasn't quick enough so decided my life was worth more than my insured bike. 🫑
  18. Thanks man, yeah it really does SUCK. Worst part (ok, there are plenty but this in response to your comment about their "increased" visibility...) there was a traffic cop in pretty much the exact same spot as the mugging, but on my way out this morning (7:30) and he was doing maintenance on the speed trap/camera that is there... πŸ™ˆ No sign of any law enforcement to keep the law abiding cyclists safe. πŸ₯²

  22. I was just about to post asking if anyone did the Gun Run half marathon yesterday? πŸ˜ƒ Yesterday was my 10th (now I can retire). 😜
