  1. Stick to Bell & Giro (pretty much the same thing). Nice replacement warranty and experts in the field. You can get a nice one for R600
  2. Great idea!! Good luck with your venture
  3. Just read this review and I must say, I am really impressed.
  4. You are going to need the buy in from the event organisers. Without them recognising your site as a means of getting their event out in the open you are going to battle to keep it up to date. A site similar to what you want to do is www.ndorfin.co.za and they have many events but still not all of them. It might be a good idea to contact CSA and get updated info from them. Most of the races in SA needs to book a date with them (and pay them money unfortunately) so I would say that would be your best source of info. If you can manage to let riders enter the events on your site it would be another plus but I can see that happening with all the different ways one needs to enter lately and the organisers using mostly the timing companies to handle the entries. It might be a good idea to maybe partner with someone like Discovery as well. They give vitality points for races done so they can also help boost your site with entries/advertising etc of race. This might be a viable income stream in future for advertising of accommodation & cycling related products/services so good luck with the venture.
  5. What unsulted butter would you guys recommend? I use Kerrygold for my fatshake but want to try unsulted for the bulletproof coffee. Any recommendations?
  6. Nice post. Gonna give this a bash.
  7. My little dude is now 5months, but that is what I am gonna get him for his first B-day. That Alu one looks great (and hardcore with the knobbies). At 1 year he wont be able to ride it yet, but a couple of months on I am sure he will be burning the trails (or garden, corridor, whatever)
  8. Thanks RB. I went onto the site but there is no link for a sub. Do I just enter as normal and it will prompt me if I want to do a sub at a later stage?
  9. Anyone know how to do a sub on an entry? Do I need to do it a number picup, prior or on raceday morning?
  10. Sounds lekker. Those hills will do great for some training!
  11. Give Velo Life in Menlyn a shout. The other day I read that they rent out MTB's
  12. Well, I would say if you aim for a 5:30 per km on a 5km & 6min per km on 10km. That will get you at about 50% of the field (where I am most of the time) in a sprint tri & a olympic distance. The Xterra is a whole different story. Daar suffer ons maar soos wat die dag aangaan One year when we still did the laps I did a 1:12 on the run but last year the run was very very hard and I did a 1:41.
  13. Sounds great. Now the big question: Will the half & full marathon merge before the finish and if so how many km before the finish?
  14. Such a shame its on the same day as the monster. Maybe next year it can be a lekker weekend away
  15. Here is a handy link to some nice race info: http://www.runnersworld.co.za/training/trailrunning/sas-best-trail-races/
  16. Used the GC & FT combo for about two years now. Works great and I can recommend it.
  17. Done. Good luck Pottie!!
  18. I have been to Swadini and if I go again I will only take the running shoes. There are some hiking trails that you can run. A nice morning run to the dam is great as well. I have done the mariepskop ride and is is good but youwill just have to cycle on tar or get someone to drop you of. You can do a 60km out and back
  19. Jip. Very flat. Except for the trail. Slight inclines but nothing hectic
  20. Chat to Wimpie at Alpha Beta cycle. He is very helpfull and when I went there 2 years ago he pointed me to a trail on the cape town road. Out to the trail + the trailand back was about 70km
  21. I did my first XCO race last weekend and it is brutal. Us sub-vets did 7 laps and after 3 I was hammered. It’s a great discipline! My wife and our baby boy went with and they parked under the trees and we had a jol watching the other races. What impressed me the most was the juniors/u23. I did most of my laps in the 12min, the elites did 10’s & 11’s, but most of the junior did sub 11’s and the fastest lap was set by a u23(or junior) in the 9min. That is insane! Clearly this is an area where the juniors & u23 can do with some help from CSA and development. It is clear that we have massive talent that just needs to be nurtured. The route itself makes you realise where you need to work on. I thought my technical skills weren’t that bad, but after I opted for the chicken run that idea got revised. I think the okes that raced in PMB yesterday are insane! I hope that one day I can klap those tricky sections like that but for now I have to opt for a higher medical aid plan and practise. I will definitely do many more XC races. Great events. Great mtb’ing!
  22. The service in the Lynnwood shop is topnotch. Can recommend!
  23. I dont enter ASG races. Period. To many problems in the past to go down that road again.
