not denying those going are world class...but look how few are going to represent SA in Athletics is what I am meaning. We should have double the number athletes going at least!

I do actually agree with you here. I do also like the spectacle of the actual sport thought. I guess from an athletics perspective, the olympics is the pinnacle of the sport. It is more important than the world championships. I do agree that some sports should not be part of it. Reducing the number of sports would eliminate a lot of unnecessary costs of building single purpose stadiums etc. One of the biggest waste of money is the opening and closing ceremonies. I wish someone who was hosting had no ceremonies and instead used the money to build houses for the homeless in their country. Of course, we are farting against the wind because we represent a very small percentage of the population who actually thinks like this

Further to my previous comment, I think before any threads are removed we should at least see a list of whats going to be nuked so we can raise objections. I understand some like the politics thread etc is not negotiable, but there are some that are definitely up for consideration to remain

but the olympics are in Tokyo - so why would we worry about the Northern Parts? July is the most Humid month in Tokyo and today the Humidity is 92%..so yes - humidity could very well play a factor in the olypmic games

I knew of Troy was under 2 at that split before the woods he could take it because of the mistake from that Frenchy. Troy is super consistent Just shows how competitive it is.. He hasn't won since 2017 and that's only his third win... He must have a stack of 2nds and 3rds

its not really the toxic threads only...there's going to be shift towards all off topic threads. Current Affairs encompasses everything. Additionally some political topics can be both informative and an interesting debate. The toxicomponent actually represents such a small percentage in the greater scheme of things. Like @Rocket-Boy says "going to see how the changes affect things and if it starts to suck in here then I will leave."

And likewise... That's the point isn't it...a community of the hub is built around the interactions of the members in various off topic chats. We discover others interests and passions. You take away that and the rest is the forum will suffer Seems like the forum is not the focus anymore though which is what I was really trying to say indirectly
