They should just have an additional set of mats on the longest route on that extra loop. It will catch the cheaters very quickly.

I actually found it a bit disappointing. It would've been nice to have seen manufacturers like Specialized, Scott, Giant etc. Got the feeling I paid R60 to walk around Solomon's which I could do for free anytime. But it was a great afternoon socialising with friends.

I thought of this thread yesterday while we were driving out to Northern Farms yesterday and had a bit of a laugh. Along Cedar where it is one lane in each direction a white Land Rover Discovery passed us on a solid white line. Guess what was on the back? MTB's! So it seems like MTB'ers also drive "f**k*** w*nk**s" as the OP describes it.

I also say Bike 1 for same reasons as what Mayhem says.

I also saw that one and was wondering what happened. It was a bit far from the tunnel to have occurred there. We passed there and saw two ambulances and a bike on the ground between the two. Think whoever the patient was might've already have been loaded into an ambulance.

I am also doing this race. It will be my first Marathon. I see some of you had some issues with entering. I also had some problems with the entry system just before the early bird entries closed. Sent emails to two addresses and never received a reply.

I think you would get mtb'ers who drive just as badly. Even runners who drive just as badly. Even tennis players who drive just as badly. Unfortunately there are many people who are just tjops and behave like that regardless of what activities they do. It is just how South African culture is now. Everybody is too focused on themselves to consider others.

We also got stuck in traffic there but most definitely saw a marshal directing traffic. You have got to be joking on some points. There were toilets at various points all over the place. While the finish was not perfect and would've been better on the main road, the venue as a whole was much better than last year. At least we didn't have to dodge two way motor vehicle traffic in the the last few km like last year.

Exactly. There is a way to deal with things and violence should be a last resort only if absolutely necessary. But even in this type of case dialogue (even shouting) is as far as it should go. And then explain to the kids the situation and what one should do. That will teach them not to be tonsils when they grow up and are in the similar situation.

Reminds me of my old Swatch Snowpass. You could load ski lift pass info onto it and then just use your watch at the scanners. It even had Table Mountain as a compatible pass. But then the strap holder on the actual watch part broken and couldn't be fixed.
