    Define "general rule of the road" Nowhere in the law does it say "so as not to obstruct the free flow of traffic" It does emphasize "when it is safe to do so" in many instances. Did you know that it is illegal for cyclists to ride to the left of the yellow line but as a general rule we do so (?)

    I think the fines are absurdly high and could get thrown out anyway because of that.

    TMNP is not going to be happy about this - their problem is that 10 to 1 they did not have a representative at court maybe thinking that people would pay the fine. I dare anyone to go and ride Cecelia - just be aware that they could throw the book at you and also confiscate your bike on the spot. They are going to want to save face on this one. I've read the regulations regarding national parks and it makes for some scary reading. If the dog walkers hear about this they are going to have a field day - there is a horde of them that have been fined and the fines have ranged from R1000 to R2500.

    This is going to create a problem as a precedent has been set. Tony did the prosecutor give a reason why the case has been dismissed?

    Marko the post is an over generalization making out that most riders would be rogue riders just given the smallest opportunity whereas it would be only a very small number that would ride where they are not supposed to ride. Most riders are responsible riders. Jonkers and Tokai would have been spaghetti by now if there were so many riders doing what they should not.

    Please !! admin remove this thread - every time it pops up it sends me into a downward spiral that lasts for days. I am thinking of starting a TA group but AA is for people recovering TA would be for group commiseration and support but no hope for recovery. HELP !!

    Rob Vogel should not have posted that Cecelia forest in open - AS IT IS NOT - until ...... My question is also - what is the point of the cork oak trail being open - it neither leads on to or leads off another trail. As far as i can see it it is a safer route than the road for commuters. Cecelia forest itself cannot accommodate all the users and mtbers.

    Just love it - rode up Chappies and prevented from going through but as I turn a guy in a Porsch convertible (open) arrives and goes through. Btw he was not wearing a helmet.

    It's not going to do less damage when it comes through a windscreen of a car. A rock does not choose where it falls. It was not Entilini's decision to have the pass closed for cyclists. The decision was a call by PPA and Donald Grant (mec for transport) I spoke to management at Etilini on Friday afternoon.
