  1. Add "Axeman" and we're done - he's not been on a build day for a while.
  2. In the mean while let's get on to it on build day - you will be surprised how much can be done - don't want a highway. Already enjoying it as is. If we can get 12 guys out there like last build day we will be on our way. Tree and sapling clearing will take two guys about 3hrs tops - without a chainsaw. Bends aren't too bad - six guys six hrs - done Ruts and run-offs would need a build team. Ridden it 3 times in the last two weeks! Now if we keep this thread on top for some days this week and next week we could maybe get more to come. Advertise the Cape Brewing Company beers to be had and we could aim for 18 able bodies. Come join us for some fellowship!!
  3. Joining van Hunk's are you!
  4. The Bridal path needs a groom but the Bridle path needs some grooming.
  5. Shifters on the downtube - bike is much older than 10 yrs.
  6. Cpt. R45 is exorbitant if you live in the flats - just saying.
  7. On single track I use my indicators no time to look at the gears! (but not really needed)
  8. Up goes the price of the activity card - again!! Does anyone know how many activity cards are sold to cyclists per year?
  9. You want to feel good(depending on your age) - go look at the times for the Argus for the age group +60 and +65. Gives you hope! There are times there that 30 year olds long for not so good for their egos.
  10. Also phoned and got a whole breakdown - Bike will be complete - all parts are present. If I send my e-mail the boyfriend will mail me photos of a roadbike that they have as well. Maybe more hubbers should show their interest.
  11. 2.5 weeks to next beer day I mean build day - start recruiting now! If you want to ride bridal path again come build/repair !
  12. Don't know if I should advertise it but two of us rode down Tokai bridle path yesterday and really enjoyed it. It should be known as the new VASBYT because that is what it is - test of skill and tenacity. (yes I did get off in places - not that skilled) Yes its rutted and obstacles and saplings on the path and some of the switchbacks suck wheels. If more use it it might justify repairing it but that would require YOUR labour. Go and enjoy it preferably not on your own as that path is not oft used. edit:spelling
  13. Voicemail at the moment - interested in how much they she wants and where the other parts are. Has anyone reported this to Olx?
  14. Been corrected already by droo - thanx ! Now just help me out on the "oil". Welcome back!
  15. Zatek - how much faster are tubbies going to make you and how much does it matter ( How much of it is in your head ?? ! )

  17. Are they Hayes 9's or Avid Juicy 9's Have you tried to service them and have they given you hassles in the past.
  18. Not debating this one - you want to get ripped off go for it!
  19. Chain maintenacnce is so important to longevity. Clean chain thoroughly (preferably remove and dunk in terps) Spot of car oil on each link At least every 2nd ride Takes me 5 mins
  20. Put another way: use an inch rule and measure over 12 inches (1 foot) New chain will measure 0 to 12" oppiekop. 1/16" over 12" still fine 1/8" over 12" replace chain edit: Correction by droo post #15 1/16" over is not fine needs to be less than 1/16" At 1/8 you will be replacing casette Thanx droo
  21. Your opinion! Not fact.
  22. This could be interesting - although Friday is around the corner.
  23. Not so !!! Accidents always have to be reported. I also thought only when someone is injured. Our local SAPS recently fined someone R500 for not reporting a fender bender. Local Facebook was up in arms but SAPS made their point and that was it.
  24. NOT! It is surprising how many people do not report accidents. And YES!
