  1. You could take a cheapy there and bring back an upgraded bike
  2. Bergboetie - how many thumbs do you have? If only two then do your own services. That way you get to know your bike and repairs in the field become easier.
  3. Here in the Cape they are doing away with tri bars in fact they are doing away with the handlebars too and the entire front wheel and running 40 inch rear wheels
  4. Oh happy days! Glad you're OK But please report it to the nearest SAPS
  5. rouxtjie is like a dog with a bone - just won't let go even if there is no more meat left on the bone
  6. So I just entered Simonstown on my bicycle - wide dual lanes on both sides of the road - plenty of space. Wheels 40cm from curb doing 30km/h Translux bus sneaks up behind me and passes leaving about 30cm between my handlebar and side of bus. Remember new by-law requires 1m space. MAJOR adrenalin rush but ok - try memorize plate (why?). Blow me down 2km further same bus is parked outside station with driver window open - what an opportunity. I pull up next to bus and with a kind voice I ask the driver if he was aware of the new by-law of a 1m space between cyclists and vehicles. Driver with a bland face looks at me and says "If you had to die right now do you know where you would be spending the rest of eternity?" (Classic evangelic question) Dumbstruck - (almost) "I do but that's beside the issue!" I am struggling to get hold of the right person at Translux but will pursue. I did consider his question on the way home and thought it rather pertinent especially when he is driving a bus and I'm on a bicycle.

  8. Best recovery drink = brown cow
  9. What are you going to use it for? Commuting - off-road - ??
  10. I would go to organizers and complain!! Organizers usually subcontract to do clean-up afterwards so should be made aware that job was not done properly. Yes we should not drop our junk
  11. Bad luck mate but not Silverback's problem but you could take it up with the chain maker.
  12. Do it yourself - not difficult Get yourself the "Avid Professional Bleed Kit" a bit expensive but a great tool Google is your friend plenty of help on web I will not let LBS touch my brakes.
  13. As far as I know it is not transferable best is to contact agents. I also hear that it is not a lifetime warranty anymore but 5 yrs.
  14. Dropper post - Giant R1500
  15. As I understand it, it is usual to vote nominated persons to a committee but the committee usually determines who fills the different portfolios. The position of chair could maybe be voted for at the agm. Proxies could present a problem and could derail the overall purpose. An interested party should at least be someone who makes the effort of attending.
  16. I go cos of the view and fresh air and because any other place is at least a 90km round trip by car
  17. If you don't use your brain why protect it?
  18. Who on thehub would like to be on said committee and make a difference? Serriasly! or Who would you have on your list? (and why?) and Who would be available?
  19. Why?
  20. ****NB**** Who gets to vote at this meeting - do you have to be a member of a specific group or groups as I know a large number of riders who are not members of any group but who really do mind what happens in/at Tokai. I will be at the meeting I do want to vote interested - concerned - affected party Also a "GATVOL" party "Let's get Tokai on track!" Let's make Tokia one of the top 10 worldwide- it can be done!
  21. Do nominations have to be 2nd'ed? Will be there!
  22. Your height does not determine your wheel size.
  23. I'm too buggered to see you never-mind greeting you!! About riding in your slipstream - I worked hard to get there and I'm just hanging in there and need a rest badly so deal with it and by the way which rule book says I can't be there. If I recover I may consider leading for a while but only on the downhill or with the wind from behind. Best way to deal with a wheelsucker (if you must). Make sure you see them from a way off - slow down to a comfortable pace but not too slow and about 5 seconds after they settle in behind you just beginning to relax a bit you give stick as in intervals - he/she is a broken being.
  24. This lady needs a shrink!! edit: sex change
  25. There is a gov. website that gives you all the rates for all sorts of imports. How you classify whatever you import makes a big difference.
