  2. You guys on 29ers? Then you are are strong. I have a 30T. Did Houw Hoek Tour no problem.
  3. Does one access the starting area from the R45 or the R301?
  4. You may think its your pedals. But it is your headset...
  5. Nearly forgot: Cape Outback
  6. Check out Greyton Tour and Houw Hoek Tour, best value. Organised by same guys who do W2W.
  7. Is there any spot in the Cape Town - Stellenbosch area where we can drop off such kit?
  8. I also had problems with numbness, etc. and tried many saddles, including Spez. Ultimately, settled (sic) on Selle SMP 209, bought from CRC. However, I also found that the angle of the saddle can make a big difference - I run mine slightly nose down.
  9. A few years ago I also noticed this on a new bike. My lbs put an enquiry to Shimano, who confirmed that this is indeed designed as such. The slight wobble assists in throwing off the chain when shifting gears. To confirm: go ride your bike.
  10. Listen to Johann Bornman: clean the seal on the freewheel hub. Mine did the same.
  11. Also did this event and found it tough. Excellent route and scenery, but that last part too rough for me
  12. Guys, just note that "pavement" may also refer to a road surface. So what was the question again?
  13. Mont Blanc Chronograph or IWC Pilot
  14. Just removed the bar ends from my 29er. Repeatedly got my bar ends caught in vegetation on single tracks - big fall on last day of W2W Adventure. So, despite aso liking the different hand positions, no bar ends from now on!
  15. Hoe ver en hoe hard ry julle ouens hierdie night rides? Sal 'n ou man ky bybly?
  16. sounds good.
  17. It looks like a group is leaving the Spar at 06h00. Is berry still intending to do the complete route, starting at 07h00? I may join one of the groups.
  18. Guys, keep me in the loop as well. If you will have me, I may be available during that time in December. I assume it will be a "ride" as opposed to a "race".
  19. I recently had my frame replaced on M size 29er for crack in exactly the same place as mentioned above. seems like a common problem, but in this way I can frequently have a new frame.
  20. Hi guys, when is the next night ride planned here in S'bos? 21 July looks like bad weather. I am new to night riding, but would like to get into this.
  21. Last year some UK MTB mag did a test on best wet weather & mud tyre (for UK conditions). Their choice was Hutchinson Toro. I bought a set and find them great all round.
  22. Me for the first time.
  23. My mass is 74kg and I run 25psi on tubeless - perfect! I see from an article by Sauser that he runs 28psi. Tubeless allows you to run much lower pressure, giving you lots of grip over rocks, etc. The Scwalbe article is wortwhile reviewing and supports such low pressures.
  24. I am mainly into MTB, but recently bought a roadbike for some training and doing events like the 94.7. It appears that there is an unwritten rule that one uses bottles for carrying water on a road bike and not a bladder on your back, eg Camelbak. I frankly find a Camelbak much more convenient, even on the road. Will I be mugged at a road race for wearing a Camelbak??? Is there anybody out there that actually wears a Camelbak on a road bike?
