  1. I'd find an informal trader on the side of the road - generally they have the most experience and will patch that with a small piece of leather cheaper than new shoes but not as nice
  2. I think the problem is often tyre clearance for proper gravel tyres You can use 650b rims and get adapters to make the brakes fit a project I also want to do
  3. Benky is a pretty tall dude - not sure of the specs of their XL for giants like you
  4. Just love the spirit of this photo, old bars on an old Merc mat
  5. I ride the Ti version of this - this is their steel one which is more reasonably priced - I run it with 50c tyres on mtb rims. I do ride a lot of nice gravel but I also go through some pretty technical rocky stuff and descents - I have limited skills and this goes pretty much everywhere - it does take 650b wheels so you can really beef it up. I nearly went this route but found the 50c on the Lauf fork a better all round option. on the tar it’s super comfy and by no means slow that said one bike to cover everything involves compromise and enjoying the challenges where you machine isn’t ideal My bike handling skills are so much better because of this bike, I’ve gone from extremely crap to ordinary so while I am punting a curve because that’s what I have, I’d just say that an adaptable gravel bike with the right attitude is the best holiday bike
  6. I’ll have you know me and the curve have just celebrated a year and I’m still madly in love - the Pyga I take on trails I don’t know so that I can do them later on the gravel bike that said, I will not be getting rid of this stage anytime soon - I’ve made that error once …
  7. And that the tour has been there 3 times in history and goes who has won all 3
  8. Said it before, something about this bike ????
  9. I’d go AXS - currently in a different league right now having tested it extensively and hassle free for just over a year. I’m going a force/gx build for a friend now so I’ll see how it stacks up against my red/XX1 - I’d be super keen to see the campy gravel gruppo but I know of 2 people having some hassles with it These bikes of yours look beautiful
  10. Exploring new trails seldom ridden - I am very lucky to live around here
  11. Done ✔️
  12. As per footballing cyclist I’m all over this kit that will look so good with my Ti gravel bike and will distract from my lack of facial hair do they have a matching coffee cup ?
  13. Ok regardless of whether he gets to Paris in green (because he will get to Paris) I will post photos of my dog and cat food donations and challenge others to BUT when Cav gets to Paris Patch is eating a dog biscuit pa I can’t see him passing the other guys record although I really wish he would because for some reason he has godlike status amongst cyclists whilst others who also cheated are demonized - lest we forget Eddy introduced my hero to the the Italian doctor
  14. Ok so exactly by when does this quitting have to take place and I might be a gambler on behalf of the SPCA ? and you get to eat a dog biscuit should you lose as you are once again doubting the will of Cav and his sheer joy at being at the tour
  15. The internet is on my side - I believed he could do it at a time he probably couldn’t but I just love his passion for riding a bike his gratitude to the team for giving him a chance and his teammates for believing was there for us all to see He beat everyone that is there and win 31 took a while but it’s on the books - now the green jersey would crown off a special career but now I’m just being greedy hincapie will be happy and old man Pat just keeps reminding us what a wily old fox he is stuff like this is why I ride a bike - guys from these new balls to the wall young guns to the comeback kings just make me wanna roll
  16. I’d look here, great value and I’ve heard good things https://rookcycles.com/collections/rook-scout
  17. Me me me it’s me I like cheap sugary stuff, beer and expensive German lightweight parts
  18. When interviewed Merlier sad the yellow Jersey asked to lead out because he likes doing stuff like this
  19. Thomas actually moved up 2 places today - so at this rate a crash a day will see him in yellow with a week to go to Paris
  20. One thing against Ewan is that he regularly seems to get his first sprint opportunity wrong - all things being equal he’s the fastest my heart will be rooting for Cav
  21. I watched an interview with him before the start yesterday and he said he just didn’t have legs on day one. He said he wanted to go but couldn’t - certainly found them for day 2
  22. We all know Froome isn’t up to scratch and may never get there But this time he was not dropped and he probably would have lost several seconds or maybe a minute up to the finish Instead a guy who had worked 2 years to get to the start of the tour had his worse fears realised when he and his semi titanium body was involved in a massive crash Part of racing but not his fault and it was sad and horrible to see him come in shaking like that The fact that he got up and crossed the line put him on equal footing to JA to in my eyes as the champions of day 1
  23. Jeepers Francois, you are one tough dude and a reminder that our problems are relative take care
  24. All of them and all the eternal seconds of those eras
