  1. a bit of bling tape for my gravel bike - ordered on Saturday, arrived today from the States. I am taking it to an expert to wrap, I'm ok but this was a bit pricy and I'm not going to take a chance
  2. ok I'll bite Yes I do, use spellcheck Secondly, would you mind letting me know where you got your degree in never before seen diseases? But more importantly, there is a dedicated thread for fearmongers, denialists, literates, opinionated know it alls and idiots. There you can find nice doses of sanity, idiocy and possibly a modicum of science. see below https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/184638-coronavirus-general-discussion/page-976?do=findComment&comment=3687094
  3. could be but won't taste very nice, bit like nescafe gold
  4. If any of you perverts need a beast, I have this My house is offgrid and this was a stupid idea - my friend has a coffee shop and upgraded her machine. I wanted to restore and paint this but instead it's been lying in my workshop for over a year. It was serviced before retirement and apparently the auto portion of the one side isn't working I am prepared to let someone take it and pay me a predetermined amount once you are 100 percent happy. I don't want money until we know its working properly. It's worked hard but is in decent nick. If you are on an offshore rig and want to set up a coffee shop for your cousin, please don't bother It weighs several tons and you'd need to get it from George I have no idea on value so feel free to chime in
  5. I’d be in but no locked in contract
  6. nice one, nothing beats a Colnago and what better colour than red - can't see how shiny your chrome is but if you want it extra bling, wet shiny side of foil in water (some say salted water) Rub gently on chrome and then polish with autosol or similar Works wonders on that fork, stem and seatpost If I may be critical, get a nice bottle cage for that lovely bike
  7. I know historically many teams have run Shimano but a dream build Colnago for me could never come without Campagnolo
  8. There is no way to get onto the 7 passes road without a decent climb included
  9. Sucks big time Frosty - Had to do this already recently and very probably again because of the alcohol ban (long story) - in my case the staff members are the only bread winners in the family And I'm doing it over a screen In my next life I don't want to be responsible for anyone
  10. work is so k@k at the moment I just went off and rode - was beautiful and cold but the busy mind saps the limited wattage I put out Still made sure to look around and appreciate my surrounds
  11. I can answer this from my experience though mine are even wider on top it feels like the old MTBs, on the hoods your wrist are dead straight so circulation is great and in the drops, not as racy as a roadie but the angle makes it a lot more comfortable I generally ride on the hoods, downhill in the drops and rest up a bit on top Felt weird for one ride, thereafter it's just perfect
  12. too much hassle to change, most work pretty well on tar anyway I do 60/40 gravel tar on panaracer gravel kings and they roll great, Also had some pirellis which were good too.
  13. Fact - everyone NEEDS a gravel bike Garden route glory - such awesome light this morning/early arvo
  14. just by communting!.........7500 kms in a year made you strong, that's not Mickey Mouse. I do agree with the heavier commute bike and then racing on a lighter bike theory
  15. Everyone needs a gravel bike but in current times finances must make sense I rode a hardtail as my gravel bike for the last 2 years, thinner gravel tyres and a lauf fork and I had no complaints. But like I said, you do NEED a gravel bike
  16. That is a really good looking bike I'm in the same boat with N+1 bikes sadly staring forlornly at me as I pass them up. Like an old dog left at home whilst you take the younger ones for a walk - I thought gravel bikes were a hoax but I realised a while back that I'm really a roadie who was riding an MTB to stay safe. I don't even like single track and then the bike marketers read my mind and gave me what I needed - a drop bar compfy roadie to ride on and off road
  17. I don't have many friends that ride and the few I do are too lazy or too damn fast At least solo I can use my gravel bike - the biggest issue will be getting lost - bearing in mind I got lost 3 times during the 2016 Sani2C with a garmin and surrounded by 4500 people The ladies who came 3rd overall steered us right on all 3 occasions, that's the part my wife likes best about that story
  18. probably Sani in December or has that been cancelled? I am going to do the K2C on my own in the not too distant future - I don't "race" much but CTCT and K2C are fun events I try not miss. K2C in particular as it suits my lard@rse. For some reason I'm faster on this course than I should be and get a nice seeding from it
  19. Closest place for some good paint advice carbonbicyclerepairs.co.za - number is on website
  20. not at all but when I stop to admire the scenery the velcro they use on the top tube tabs catches my beloved assos so I need to do something about this - its not standard velco, works well but munches lycra
  21. I got a permit to travel to Cape St francis where I have a cottage - was blown away by the amount of people who had relocated there for lockdown and acting as if they were on holiday. One guy from Cape Town went to a dinner party ffs feeling unwell and now 3 people there with confirmed cases
