  1. I`ll be there!
  2. Cool with that. I will show some of the DH riders how to ride up some single track!
  3. Sorry I couldnt make it!! Seems as if I was there MUCH MORE work would have been done!! Saw you guys yesterday working very hard on the DH trails. I dont ride these kind of trails so have no interest whatsoever to help as my bike is for XC. When you guys start a topic/maintenance about single track and solely single track, drop me a message. (The trails used by most XC riders)
  4. No need for me to pitch up as I don't ride a DH bike with a 2.5inch tire stuffing the trails up! You know eaxctly what I'm talking about when it comes to the IDT!!
  5. Actually I have it all wrong. Please continue doing the free work to keep Tokai looking good! My point was who decided that u guys were speaking/representing the cycling community in Tokai when meetings are held with SANparks??
  6. Big man!! Where were you when you wanted my IDT??????????????????????????? Who was swinging their tongue then? Whatever man, go play on your little DH trails! What new XC trail? Nothing new when you go higher than the main hill!
  7. Well done to all involved with the building/maintenance of YOUR DH trails in Tokai. Pain or Shyne & CptMayhem: You guys ripped me the other day about trail maintenance, etc, etc! But the only kind of trail maintenance you guys talk about is YOUR 600m DH route. Fairy garden was just done so it doesnt look like the DH route is the only one getting attention! Now: All you guys are doing is maintenance for DH trails!!!! (As these need constant work!) As most of the users posting here are 90% DH riders. Pain or Shyne: Mach 7-7 asked you the question as to when the meetings are taking place and with whom?(SANparks?) This has not been answered! Are other cyclists requests being raised at these meetings??
  8. Look like a squashed up Specialized 29er!
  9. If there are gaps +-100mm left on the bridges to prevent livestock from crossing then maybe chicken mesh (2 or three layers) can be pulled tight over the gap or the entire bridge. This also helps for grip when the trails get more muddy or the wood gets a build up of moss/algae.
  10. It tells me that 80% of cyclists voting are all downhill riders!! I don't make 'new' trails nor do I ride where I'm not meant to! So carry on doing what u doing, I applause u for doing it for free! Keep up ur good work. No one is going to stop me from riding in Tokai.
  11. Only so much maintenance can be done on a 10-20 year old trail before you cannot use it anymore! (Traffic 10 years ago < traffic today) Thus new trails would need to be made! For Example: The Pines are getting cut down, this leads to erosion, more dust/sand/rocks falling from up above onto the trails. There is also only so much that can be done with a spade! I`m sure that after several days of constant wind & rain (storm) some trails (jeep track from the saddle to silvermine gate) will be unrideable as the trail could get washed away! Has anybody seen the amount of rocks/stones accumulating on the lower trails from where the trees are missing? Earth works machines would need to be called in & who would pay for this?? Or maybe, just maybe a hubber has a spare CAT machine to lend us? At the end of the day, I pay my money to ride in Tokai. If I must come and help repair trails then I expect a reduction in my Wild Card/Bike Permit cost!
  12. One thing nobody has mentioned (from scanning through the posts). Traffic volumes on the Tokai single tracks have increased in the past few years. One can just take a look at the parking areas on a Saturday/Sunday morning!! This in turn means that the single tracks will erode much quicker than before, especially in the winter. Has anyone ever proposed new trails to SANparks to alleviate the stress off these original `old` trails?
  13. Its funny that grb285 says in his topic about riding up 'downhill' routes that the riders coming up must give way to riders coming down. However, the actual rule is that riders coming down must give way to riders coming up!!! Plenty people here shoot their mouths off before they know the actual rules!!
  14. Post updated! Please just keep it simple by choosing an answer. Keep posts to a minimum as there are enough options available. Would like to see how many cyclists (if voted honestly) are riding on the `more` technical trails which need more maintenance.
  15. Come on guys, lets see your answers! There has been much debate going on in the past concerning the single tracks and `downhill` sections in Tokai. Lets not have any angry or biased posts, lets keep it simple to just choosing an answer! Please be honest!
  16. Maybe trying to be like Travis Pastrana
  17. Theres no need to ride through a unnecessary puddle? If someone else has made a new trail and it looks like the new trail is well ridden, then I think that whoever is looking after the trails has made this. If you driving in a 4x4 bakkie on a freeway and in the one lane there are small rocks/stones and there are no obstructions in the other, you telling me you gonna drive through the small rocks/stones?? Its called unnecessary and being pro-active to wear and tear!! Not everybody can replace chains, cassettes, brake pads so frequently! The rules are so unclear in Tokai! No-one knows who is looking after the trails! When you buy a Wild Card & Bike permit they dont issue you with a rule book! I`m paying to ride in Tokai! It`s a business at the end of the day! If I go to any other place, I pay to ride there, same as Tokai!!!! slowly going downhill as they cut all the pines down! Which in turn is creating more soil erosion! Some fat kat is sitting somewhere receiving all this money and he should be getting people to maintain Tokai. Instead you get keen cyclists wanting to do it for free!! So dont you get frustrated about paying for a bike permit?? Where is the money going? I was born in Tokai & have been riding in the forest since 2005. I havent seen any changes to additional routes and or maintenance in the past 5.5 years!!! So......where is all that money (wild card holders and single tickets) going??
  18. Ok, just keep throwing the cash for the bike permit down the toilet! I train hard during the week, so on the weekend I like to get onto the trails. If I see a trail to the left with about 80mm deep x 1.5m long of water in front of me with 2 huge roots and a trail to the right with no obstacles then I`m gonna take the easier route. I do enough technical riding (ride up all single track on a quiet day). Is just a typical South African attitude to throw money away and never see it being used for anything. Then you get a guy like cptmayhem who is doing the work and not even getting paid!
  19. Dont think these would ever be allowed in Tokai, can you imagine what the Forest would look like with some semi-vert wooden ramps (burms) in nearly every corner?
  20. Appreciate what you have done! BUT the original path/corner in fairy garden will not last forever. So while it is water logged, clear another path next to it to relieve the amount of erosion/stress from cyclists on the original path! These paths can then be alternated in the future. Fairy garden should have two paths into the corners so the slow riders can be passed! There are so many areas in Tokai that could be used for more single track and most of these areas are below the young pine trees! Until they start to repair or construct new trails I aint gonna renew my Wild Card! What exactly are we getting when we pay for the Wild Card and the rider permit? I understand that the Wild Card can be used at Cape Point, several lodges, holiday accommodation and for discounts at certain places) BUT where does the money go for the riding permit? Can we rather pay you to do the above mentioned maintenance?
  21. With an extra gear, it might make it feel like a motor bike!!
  22. With an extra gear, it might make it feel like a motor bike!!
  23. At the end of the day, the original poster should have returned the bike to CWC and stated his case. If he got the bike back and there will still issues or CWC were ignorant, then he should have posted this topic and complained.
  24. Jizzed in my pants just thinking about Oak Valley!
  25. psychological!!
