  1. Let me get my receipt.
  2. rims are, yes.
  3. IRD cassette on race wheels and LX on training wheels. IRD weighs 45 grams less than XTR and costs the same as a XT. IRD, www.interlocracing.com, normally Kenda Karma,s, Maxxis Larsen Mimo's in the wet and a pair of Maxlite 310's for marathon racing.
  4. and skewers
  5. no just with discs
  6. 1400 grams, I train on DRC rims on XT hubs with DT competition spokes though. Race wheels have done 26 races, were built in April, no damage thus far, touch wood.
  7. Wheelset was built with discs in mind, I love my set, especially the red nipples.
  8. Don't go factory, ie, Mavic's SLR's, DT Swiss's XR 1450 etc, apart from being heavier than a custom built set they are generally more expensive and the replacment bits are hard to get hold of. If you want light then go Stans ZTR Olympic Disc rims on DT Swiss 240 or 190 ceramic hubs laced with DT Swiss Revolution 1.8 - 1.5 spokes, black. Opt for a 2 cross construction pattern back and front and DT Swiss brass nipples, red, looks the wicked, is pretty tough as well as super light.
  9. Does that R7 utilise SPV, if so, YUK. The rest of the bike is wicked though.
  10. Another disad of V's of course is that they chew up your rims in the wet stuff. Grit gets between the pads and rim and acts as sand paper. Also in heavy mud crud can get into your cable systems making your brakes sieze up. I reckon that although disc's weigh a bit more they generally have better power mod, are easier on the fingers and generally are less of a hassle. Bleedin a disc is also much easier than setting up a V brake system. Good entry level brakes are: Formula's ORO K18, Avid's Juicy's 3 and 5 and Shimano's Deore and LX systems. Lots of guys swear by Hayes's nines as well but I don't like em.Racer X2007-11-28 12:09:20
  11. Well other than the fact that it weighs a tonne, nothing. Does the job and its pretty plush. Nothin special though.
  12. Damn, I wanna go to Switserland. Racer X2007-10-28 10:11:45

  14. Hey Minty I never knew you swung that way, being bummed an all, you sure you shouldn't tell your GF. Racer X2007-10-28 06:54:07
  15. Well....what ever, I still think that this has turned into a bit of a manhunt though.
  16. I think we should let Gasant112 get his side of the story in otherwise this is going to turn into a virtual bloodbath. He may have an honest, inncocent resaon for not paying Azonic, that said I do undertsand your predicament Azonic. All I am trying to is lets not crucify the guy before we know what is going on.
  17. A hub civil war. No thanks I got bio next monday, someone PM me when its over. I don't need another distraction.
  18. Sorry to hear that Azonic, maybe it was just a mistake?
  19. I highly doubt that Mud Dee will be worried about us hijacking his thread, according to Pantini he is busy looking at porn.
  20. Thanks witrot, I have no problem with black people, I do get pissed off though when someone, of african decent, gets into a degree like that with straight D's. I feel the same about sport when ever politics gets involved we just end up with a racially correct team. I don't care if the players are black, white or green with pink spots all I care about is there ability on the sports field. All that said one of my best mates is black so I have no quarms there. Will be going be going to either UKZN, as my dad lectures there or Sussex in the UK, as my uncle lectures there.
  21. yeah well Witrot...........how do I put correctly. oh well here goes, in order for me to get into a medical degree next year I need straight A's. Oh and alot of taning cream.
  22. I'll be studying and looking from my new wheels to my IDT and then back at my notes. Have ridden 6 times in the last month. God I hate Matric, oh well have a good ride.
  23. If you can stretch your budget to 19.9k you must check out the NEW Merida AM 3000. It has got a full 2008 XT drivtrain, full FSA componentary and and fox suspension with a FOX TALAS 140, (I think), RL fork, check the bike out on the Merida website, it is wicked.
  24. No question about it, keep the new fork, it is lighter, has both rebound and lock out adjustments. It is also an air fork which means that it has much more adjustability from the compression side of things. For more info check out: http://www.mtbr.com/ Just out of inetest, what bike are you planning on buying.
  25. The best thing to do just to strip the whole fork, clean the stanchions, replace the seals, the o-rings. The stanchions sound alright, unless the grit has actually dug into the aluminium, in which case the oil will pour out over the seals when ever you compress the fork. The best thing to clean the fork with is alcohol , not parafin! Lubricate with 5 or 10 weight oil, a suspension specific grease for the seals and put it back together.
