  1. The best thing to do just to strip the whole fork, clean the stanchions, replace the seals, the o-rings. The stanchions sound alright, unless the grit has actually dug into the aluminium, in which case the oil will pour out over the seals when ever you compress the fork. The best thing to clean the fork with is alcohol , not parafin! Lubricate with 5 or 10 weight oil, a suspension specific grease for the seals and put it back together.
  2. I can't honestly say that after the "Taxi Affair" that I was laughing, though there was this one time when I thought doing DH on a bike with 80mm of front suspension was a good idea. It was 6 years ago and well there was a tree involoved.. okay it wasn't funny.
  3. http://weightweenies.starbike.com/ will give you all the info you need.
  4. Most forks and shocks are easy to service. I did allsorts when I worked as a bike mecahinc. Just download the relative manual from the net, buy the correct wt oil and your laughing.
  5. Yes take note of your signature, hit the road and take it easy.
  6. Hey SP, sorry bout the collarbone if its any consolation I hit a taxi in June, (Taxi's Fault). Broke 6 ribs, got a bruised kidney, 106 stitches and a concussion on top. Any way point the story is: Don't listen to your GP if it doesen't hurt ride. I started again after 3 weeks off the bike,(once the concussion had lifted) and 3 weeks later I was fine, I reckon that any more time off the bike would have done me more harm than good.
  7. Personally I would go for the Easton, (don't like FSA). Something to consider is the seatopst diametre and how far you are going to extend it, Ie, 27.2 mm at anything over 250 mm is a broken seatpost waiting to happen. If it was me though I would go for the Thompson masterpiece, mm for mm it is just heavier however it is super strong. Keep the carbon for your seat stays.
  8. Linnega's got it right, pop down to your LBS and go buy a few tools, BBB are about the best value for money. Then hit exclusive books and go get a repair book or again ask your LBS. Tools to get: Chain Breaker, Allen Key multi tool, (make sure it has torq wrenches for disc brake bolts), Casette remover, chain whip, bottom bracket tool and Crank Extractor (make sure you get the right tool, external bearing or bb one). Then you need a large tub of bike grease, Q20 and Chain Lube. Tyre Levers and a pedal spanner would also go down well. There is probably alot of other stuff, make sure that you also have a hacksaw, a pair of kitchen scissors and as many other odds and ends that you can think of. NO. ONE TOOL/TEMPORARY FIX IS DUCT TAPE.Racer X2007-10-08 15:24:38

  22. Okay so homeopathics have their place but when you get some sought of infetcion, Bronchitis for instance, then they are definately a no no. They just don't work quick enough. They say that prevention is better than the cure so I just dose myself up on Vit C and take the nessecary homepathics when I feel flu comming on. I also go to regular Electro Magnetic therapy sessions, which, really boost my immune system.
  23. I am a bit of an odd case. My MHR is 168 and I am 18. This is apparently caused by the fact the I have very wide Lumen in my Pulmonary aretory. Well thats what my doctor said anyway. It seems to be genetic cause my Dad's MHR is 151 and he is 60.
  24. The EA90's are much smoother than the Kysrium ES's, thats based on my 2 minute ride on them anyway.
