  1. Trying it on locally then ordering online is a a tacky move and will not make you any friends with your local stores. And don't forget to add the 40% duty and 14% VAT to your overseas prices.
  2. No movement at all. It rides like a normal seatpost.
  3. You ride on the tar?!
  4. It was good. Although I know all the theory, and hopefully get it right some of the time, it was nice having someone give immediate and specific feedback on what could be done better. Also on my normal rides it is very rare that I re-ride a section repeatedly until I get it perfect, whereas we did that several times yesterday to nail things down, which is actually really useful and something I should do more of.
  5. It's fine to ride alone. Only "dangerous" part is the black DH line. I wouldn't ride that on my own. Blue lap plus the green lap would be a nice route. Or do the blue lap then head over to Hoogekraal for a lap or two. Although you will need to buy *another* permit at Hoogekraal, it has a pretty fun downhill.
  6. I agree with all the above, although in defence of some of the agents, CRC's buying power is several orders of magnitude bigger than probably all local agents put together.
  7. Can't believe you'd look at a Trigon after considering a Santa Cruz?! My money for an XC/Trail bike would go towards one of Santa Cruz Tallboy, Ibis Ripley, Pyga OneTen29, Rocky Mountain Element or Niner RIP9.
  8. I've never ridden Assos, and won't ever at their ridiculous prices. I have tried most others from several flavours of anatomic, to panda, velotex, santini, vermarc, campagnolo, pantini and giordana. The most comfy of the whole lot has been Vermarc and Giordana. And I'd put Giordana as the best value (not bought here though, local prices are crazy)
  9. PS. I would offer you a lift, but I drive a bakkie and my passenger seat is occupied by a baby-seat.
  10. Cool, I ride most Saturday mornings. I'm in Milnerton Ridge.
  11. Milnerton? I'm right next door to you. I'm no jumping expert by any stretch of the imagination, but there's a few smaller jumps on some of the Durbanville trails. Happy to show you around this Saturday morning and get you started.
  12. Where in Cape Town are you?
  13. Live timing at http://www.enduroworldseries.com/ for those that haven't figured it out already
  14. Ben Cruz exiting the race on stage 1
  15. You're right, exchange rate is crap. I must say the upgrade was worth it for me. Deadly quiet, lighter and a nice simple look.
  16. Sorry, Sunday I'll be doing hangover recovery.
  17. Have a look at pricing from bike-discount.de. Also get a quote from evobikes - they're quite competitive
  18. "Taking advantage of two of the Val d'Allos - Le Seignus resort's chairlifts means that the start of each liaison will be accessed primarily from the lifts, but with an untimed first lap for each stage offering a kind of live practice. In combination with the second timed lap, riders will total 10,000 metres of cumulative vertical drop and more than an hour of cumulative race time."
  19. Those are some seriaaaaasly long downhills.
  20. I'm heading to Jonkershoek for some enduro "training" tomorrow, ie pedal slowly up the hills and try use as little brakes as possible going back down Anyone keen to join me? Meet at the gate at 8am. Ride for 2-3 hours. Coffee at Ride-In afterwards.
  21. *cough* You can't even stay on your bike on a downhill jeep track, and you want more things more challenging? *cough*
  22. This looks pretty neat - http://g-form.com/products/protective-compression-shirt/ Not sure on local availability though.
  23. To answer the OP's question, if you ride XX1, you probably won't want to give it back.
  24. Any experience you'd care to share to back up your random comment?
