  1. Pics of your wife or it never happened!!
  2. What's the mechanic like?
  3. You said standing seems to be ok... How far can you ride without sitting down
  4. Edit- removed my comment -I dissed the vale, but then realized my life insurance is not up to date...
  5. We did the 'langs Baviaans' a couple years back when there was flooding that caused the route change. I don't know why people always suggest a change of clothes at Bergplaas- I don't think it's necessary as all we had in mind was wasting as little time as possible at the water points and getting to the finish as quickly as possible... I would only have a spare jacket in the box in case of real inclement weather...
  6. The proper way would be to use an 'easy out' which is done by drilling a hole in the centre of the broken thread and using the easy out to remove the broken piece. You can by them from a hardware store. The easier way - which I have had to do twice...is... Remove the other cleat screw first, then take a drill with a large drill bit and drill the head off the stripped screw/bolt. (Just don't drill into your shoe!!) Now remove the cleat. You'll be left with the thread piece of the bolt sticking out- take a pair of pliers or vice grips and unscrew the bolt.
  7. Mountain sanctuary on the other side of Breedts might be worth a look... They are quite pedantic about their no noise after a certain time though, so depending on how raucous you friend & his kids are...
  8. Yes- we did the "langs Baviaans" edition in 2011. Finished 43rd I think. It's tough but doable if you put in decent training ( as in 4-6 months building up time in saddle - some 120+km rides in the months leading up to the race. Do it- you will love it!!
  9. Guys-Stop falling for this drivel... @paulbeen - Google is your friend- look things up there before you post about things you know squat about.
  10. Well done Sir!!!
  11. Law enforcement wrt existing laws will be a better start... People should not think they can get away with breaking the rules of the road, and its not 1or 2 groups of citizens- it's all of US...
  12. They can't even wait for the traffic light to change to green before pulling off- no way they will wait for others on 'their' roads.
  13. It's a great idea in theory, but I don't see it working... 1.) There is no proper/ continuous enforcement of the current rules- which is the start of the whole high death toll on RSA roads. 2.) What happens when there are cyclists/ runners on opposite sides of the same section of road? You loose 3M of the road- now add traffic traveling in both directions...???
  14. Especially after using as big a word as 'flippantly' in the header
  15. Well done guys!
  16. My condolences to the family. These words are being said to often here on the hub - sad sad sad
  17. Nice one!!!
  18. I think the OP has a good point & you seem a bit out of line going off at the post!! It did not come across as any sort of justification...
  19. Just curious if its just me that hasn't been on my bike since Burry was killed on Thursday? I have been quite saddened by the whole tragedy and have not wanted to get on my bike since...
  20. I like your idea
  21. I'd do it -along with every other rider I know
  22. I am so sad- he was such an inspiration to every cyclist in RSA. We were building a rock garden yesterday and saying to each other how easily Burry would ride it... We will name it the Burry garden now
  23. What type of pace & distance ?
  24. Are you his friend? And why is this now a vendetta?
