  1. Thanks... total elevation on the ride was 240m according to Zwift so it must mainly be due to the wheel circumference as mentioned
  2. Hi guys, I lost my marbles for a few hours back in Sept and decided to do the 160k ride on Zwift. I decided to try use my Garmin at the same time to see if everything matched up plus to get temp statistics etc... Garmin Edge 520 vs Kickr 3 (with spindown done prior to ride). From the image - it seems like everything is the same except for the distance and ave speed... So which one is correct.... Any ideas?
  3. Diluted apple juice also works well keep things stable
  4. Thanks, will give him a shout. Core is weak! I actually got wrist pain last night on an hour 45 ride and riding on the hoods is awful so something must be wrong. I can't imagine why anyone would put up with such an uncomfortable position yet I keep telling myself that I may need more time in the saddle. Is 1300km still too low of a mileage to get used to a road bike vs MTB?
  5. Hi guys, Since getting a road bike for my IDT and going for a proper fitting, I've noticed that I've got almost a constant numbness in my pinky and ring finger. This was never the case when my MTB was on the trainer. I've done some online research and it seems that I've developed something called Guyon canal/handlebar palsy. Do you guys have any recommendations for doctors in Johannesburg/Sandton Area who specialise in such a thing? Any tips would also be appreciated (perhaps the fitting needs to be re-looked at)
  6. These are epic- easiest way to shave the beard.
  7. I'd suggest one of these from Builder- was +- R170 for 1.7m and it works really well.
  8. Thanks for the idea on using the Garmin to check the temp - will give this a go- maybe this will help convince the Mrs
  9. At least I know that I'm not the only one taking strain! Was also considering a portable unit... I've just read mixed reviews on them so not sure if it's worth trying.
  10. I was wondering how you guys keep cool in your pain caves... Really been struggling lately with 2 fans on full tilt! Is it worth biting the bullet and getting a split system aircon installed?
  11. I did cos I knew about it... those who didn't know about it could easily come unstuck... I'm all for that section being fast - was my fav part of the park, just became dangerous when they chose to plant a gum pole right next to the trail
  12. I agree but the last time I rode it (a few months back), the 1 gum pole was waaaaaay to close to the trail and the slightest contact with it would result in a serious injury.
  13. Type 1 Diabetic here for 30 years and I fully concur with this. You'd only need to check for ketones when blood glucose readings are really high. I only start checking for ketones if my blood glucose hits 20+ mmol/l (fortunately this doesn't happen often). I think that I've had to check for ketones once in the past 2 years and it was negative so I get the urine ones. In terms of actual BG meters, go with a well known brand such as Accu-Chek/Bayer etc and get the machine that has the cheapest strips. DM me if you need any more info
  14. I've always found the service from Complete Cyclist to be great and reasonably priced.... not too far from Johnson's
  15. Meneer - Long time! I only use the Zwift auto upload to Garmin Connect and Strava. This upload includes the elevation in Garmin Connect but not the training effect. See here why it doesn't include training effect. Plus it's a mission if you have to then also sync the actual Garmin Device and then delete the duplicate workout on Strava and Garmin Connect. I'd suggest that you add the Elevate plugin for Chrome to get all fitness trends, training effect etc or you can use the locally made intervals.icu site
  16. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these: https://www.takealot.com/alva-air-evaporative-cooler-with-twin-fan/PLID55391151
  17. I've been following this thread and am still rooting for you to pull through all this nonsense! If you/someone will setup a backabuddy page - I'm prepared to donate R1000 towards the test... I'm certain between the gang here, we can come up with the balance if Momentum don't pay
  18. The words "oil rig" should get your spider senses going...
  19. Not sure if this has been shared here, but I find https://zwifthub.com/ to be a great site for planning workouts/keeping track of completed routes etc
  20. I run mine on an Intel NUC i3 with on board graphics at 1080 and it's fine... I once saw that someone likened the graphics on Zwift to PS1 graphics and I tend to agree so not sure how much of a diff a better graphics card will make - maybe better shadows and details but I don't think you're gonna be blown away. If Zwift had to move to the Unreal Engine, then I'd say do it. If you're interested, you can upload a Zwift log file to https://zwiftalizer.com/ to see how yours stacks up or check out some 4K Zwift content on YouTube.
  21. I've found that by linking my Strava profile to intervals.icu (dev'd by a local hubber and it's epic) and the Elevate Chrome plugin, I get most of that stuff.
