  1. Just got off the phone with SAA. I had flights booked from Johannesburg to Cape Town for this afternoon returning tomorrow evening. I also have the same flights next week which were all booked at the same time. I was told that because I wanted to change this weekend's flights to after the ones booked for next week it would put everyting out of sequence and was not possible. I know that there are charges for changing flights and was more than willing to pay, and told them so, but was told that it was not possible. So I am now waiting for a reply from their customer care dept to an e-mail where I told them I thought it was silly and I would now have to fly my later flights on their competitors. That's if I get a reply
  2. Without going to look at the site etc. Then why get this. If it's only a heart rate monitor why not stick with the tried and tested. Suunto, Polar etc If you want a GPS attached, yes then use Garmin. I do.
  3. Either somebody was willing to sponsor or else the Drug Institute decided to test. They do random tests all year round at various sports. They also do out of competition testing as well, when they just arrive at your house and ask for a sample. I know of quite a number of Cape Town riders who have been tested a few times over the past two to three years.
  4. Ok, just to settle a few minds. Firstly the reason I didn't get permission for Vissershok route is that there are roadworks on the route and the traffic authorities thought that it could be dangerous for the cyclists. So the race will now be on the Phesantekraal cicrcuit and starts at 12H00. Full details are on the Falcons site. Bit late notice, I know, but we were trying to change things for the memorial ride and couldn't do it. This is actually the third circuit we have applied for permission to use. Many thanks to the traffic authorities for putting up with all our last minute attempts to change things. They have been very helpful, even though they are costin a fortune. There will also be a 1 lap free ride for all those who are unlicenced or lazy or unfit who want to ride in memory of Ryan Cox. Whe whole days racing will be in his memory, may he R.I.P. and not be forgotten.
  5. Very interesting article. I personally would be a bit scared to try half of what he tried. I believe in strong doses of vitamins and minerals and that's all. These other chemicals would probably make me madder than I already am. But thanks for the link. A good read
  6. I used to know but I forgot... My memory is bad these days. Well said
  7. Do you really expect a reply to this question? I wouldn't even ask it. But I certainly can believe Chunky, he knows more about the doping side of sport than most of us. I'm not pointing fingers, just stating a fact. I would love to spend an afternoon with him to hear all the stories. But once again, I wouldn't ask him, or expect him to tell anybody. He's not that stupid.
  8. Also saw this strange fellow at the TT - anybody know who he is, or don't you want to know him
  9. By the time everybody else had gone home the follwoing 3 pics were taken - just before I left the venue So I guess they eventually go it out and off to the scrap yard, but I certainly wasn't waiting till I saw it disappear.
  10. And this is the sight I was greeted by on arriving at the venue on Saturday monring. 1 load of soya in it's m&*r. Driver jumped the stop street and went flying into the field at 10 the previous evening.
  11. TT organised by Falcon Sports starting at Klipheuwel Silos
  12. Balance, who want's balance, the world is warped. (he he hijack) But to be fair, never been to Epic Bike Shop but they are great supporters and sponsors of mountain biking in WP
  13. While they are not my regular bike shop (I have a few I support) I have always had friendly service at Olympic and have no complains there. Good stock and knowledgable staff. As with all shops, if somebody buggers up. Let them know and let them correct their mistake. If they don't or then make the same mistake again then you can take them to task. M 2c worth
  14. Bwahahaha, I almost just fell off my chair thinking of this. Man falling off bicycle and bouncing off the ground faster than he was going down. He he can u imaging what it would look like in a multiple pile up. The locals would come out and play soccer with us.
  15. Hey shaunh, small world. Good to meet you the other day. Sorry guys they're all mine. And if I lose, well tough, we should all be supporting initiatives that make things safer for us on the road. We all complain that it's dangerous out there, but when somebody tries to do something, nobody supports it. Let's see some response guys. Really, most of your bike are worth thousands, what's R 100. Hopefully you'll see my deposit shaunh - 2 tickets please. Thanks

  19. Well . . . rocket science stuff here
  20. My 2c worth. I really enjoyed working at the event. Thanks to all concerned - the officials, the event organisers and all their assistants, it was great working with you all. Looking forward to the next one if it runs like this. My only downside, the cold (although I must admit I was expecting it to be much colder) - nasty when one has to start setting up equipment at 5am. Looking forward to seeing all the officials and cyclists at future events this year, with the next big one I am going to being the Eric van Enter, where I am..... he, he, just a spectator.
  21. I can't see how anybody can stop people from selling anything online, or face to face for that matter. If an importer has a problem with people going direct to the manufacturer he/she is meant to be representing, then he/she must take that up with the manufacturer. If they have a contract with the manufacturer that they have the sole rights for distribution in South Africa then they have the right to take the manufacturer to court for not honouring the contract. Yes, there is the story of maybe a third party gettinginvolved and selling to an SA "online" shop at a very small mark up, but then the distributor needs to, once again, take it up with the manufacturer. My 2c
  22. A few examples of photos posted on the Falcon Sports Website. Most are taken at the prologue and hill climb, with a few others still coming. Will be posting pictures over the weekend.
  23. Your starting time is the time from the gun/start. The 1st set of mats is used to check who is actually in the group that has started and is not actually used for timing. The mats on the finish line are used for timing and the second set of mats at the finish are purely there for back up. Hope this helps
