  1. from what i can gather he approached the turn from Clifton and forgot to turn because he hit the wall straight on as ther is plaster and bricks missing.
  2. i wonder if CSC guys knew that it cost each guest R15k
  3. Once, hopefully the Liberty Team got some tips on how to pedal consistently in a straight line and not invent new ways of crashing week in and week out.
  4. we here it every week in the leagues, go over to the wrong side of the raod and u will be dq'ed.....its about time that the officials caried out their threats. if we just move away from the T d W and focus on the "normal" league rides , the comm has a start list (is that correct??? officials) why can't the comm hand in a race report and list the number of the riders who broke the white line rule (i know it can be done , because they write down the no of the rider who is dropped) the rider(s) who constantly break the rule(s) gets suspended from all events. this means that all riders should have a license and belong to a club so that discipline can follow the correct channels.
  5. that Cannondale is still doing the rounds on the track
  6. what club is it?
  7. thats why it is so important that the sport gets its house in order in this province and all cyclist are licensed in some form or another. if you don't obey the rules your licensed is suspended. heard a marshal - Steve Hayward - at the start (who is also the chairman of the PPA) shout out that if you are caught littering you will be dq'ed) joker. i started in the c bunch , we were not too bad, but did rider a bit on the wrong side of the road. i just sat at the back and watched. almost canned the ride at the bottom of Bottleray.
  8. think about this, RSA have one cyclist riding for FDJ (for the life i can't remember his name) , if we classify BL'world as a RSA, Jhb based team then all of our best riders are based in the RSA and in Jhb. JHB is the place to be to make a living from cycling a bicycle but CT is the place to be to own a bicycle shop.
  9. Pedal , i'd like to think that we are all friends on the forum-discussing topics maturely. cycling is a capital intensive sport - no argument. there is nothing stopping individuals riding as a club / team, why must the riders be sponsored? any rider worth sponsoring should not be riding in CT - thats reality - riders moving to Jhb to make money out of cycling has been happening since the beginning of cycling.
  10. the riders down here in the cape are just a bunch of bloodsuckers. they'll suck the sponsor dry and then just latch on to the next **** that comes along.lets face it if any of our riders were that good they would be in Jhb, why don't the wannabe pro just face up to the fact that they have chosen a sport that is very expensive to participate in, and treat it like any other amateur sports person threats their sport. pay your own way and let the sponsor sponsor the event then only the best will get whats due to them. i bet that RK could have sponsored all leagues - elite to masters for the last three years - with the money he has wasted on his team. i know , i know , its his money, but don't discount the riders who want / demand / need / push for more of his money.
  11. newbies to cycling always try CWC then they realise that there are other shops who are cheaper and you don't have to count the fingers afterwards. go to Marks Bicycle Workshop, you wont go anywhere else again.
  12. both of them have seen riding in "phonak" kit at Killarney, i haven't actually seen the fatish one ride killarney. i think the"wobbly one" has been seen in Outriders kit and maybe that explains the wobbliness...
  13. cycling thru Bellville, just past the Velodrome, which is a fast piece of raod, approaching a traffic intersection, with the lights in our favour, just as we entered the intersection a bakkie decide that it was taking too long for the lights to change and just took off, the other cars thankfully waited (obeyed the red light). what was funny , none of us touched our brakes as we were too dumbfounded that someone would so blatently disobey the traffic lights ,with other traffic all around. my first thought "are the lights working" or "are all the lights green". all of us said "effing idiot" , now wht would a motorist think of a cyclinst doing the same thing??? effing stoopid idiot.
  14. RE - the Phonak rider , Pedal i agree , he is riding well and really rides as hard and as fast as he can......BUT......just stay off his wheel. which is diificult because he also wants to play in the front. what happens , is that he glances around and then the bike goes. i had one experience of him in a funride , everyone was shouting at him becasue he almost caused a pile up no-one realised he was deaf.
  15. the group i ride in , which includes funriders and licensed riders always stop at stop signs and red traffic lights. we see it as "trainin" i.e. power training, see how quick u can accelerate from a standing start. someone u can jumps out of the saddle or stay in the saddle.
  16. ja...as a motorist there is nothing worse than seeing a cyclist flying thu a 4 way without even yielding....i cycle with a group after work once a week and we have to negotiate the traffic thru the 'burb' we find if you stop at 'our 4 way' the motorist, in most cases, wave you thru. at the height of Argus fever i find the motorist are a bit more impatient but it improves after the Argus. i think the motorist then see those that are still cycling post argus as the more serious cyclist/road user that the weekend / once a year road warrior.
  17. i'll bet on it...i see it all the time. whats a 4 way stop to a cyclist when a red traffic light is ignored with impunity in the middle of "town"
  18. you reap what you sow, there has been no "development" at all in the sport let alone transformation despite the Gov identifying cycling as one of the sport least transformed. did the ppa / csa wanted it spelt out to them when Gotty and Dave were hauled over the coals a year or so ago. and don't come with the **** that cycling is not a "black" sport". i think Yorkshire CC in Paarl are over 80 years old.enough said.
  19. don't to play devils adocate here but i bet the cyclist skipped the stop street as well
  20. just watch out for the ou in the Phonak kit, he is deaf and a bit wobbly, drifts big time to left and right.
  21. no contest - here in the Cape most of the Vets (40-49) and Masters (50+) are A + B seeded riders. they ride faster when they need to (most of the time when its up a hill). its the nature of racing , when you ride fast , ride fast but when you ride slow, ride slow, the elastic eventually breaks.

Phen thanks for reply . i saw an article in a cycling mag a few years back - the article was trying to get cyclists to try out tri-athlons and for swimming, this piece of equipment was a sort of harness worn by the swimmer with a bungee cord that was anchored to the end of the pool (i.e. small garden pool that doesnt allow for proper training). the swimmer was able to swim but stayed in one spot

does any of the tri athletes on the board know of the suppliers of a "contraption" that would allow a swimmer to swim in one spot. something like an indoor trainer for cyclists.
