  1. just a thought , is there any reason why Robbie Dale is making a comeback???
  2. can u make it your number one priority to form a track squad for next years olympics - try and form it this year not in 2008.
  3. just the two roadies (looked like father and son)
  4. mtb'ers / roadies were all over the road. pops u cant go down tiekie and stay inside the yellow line , especially on the corner at hillcrest farm. wot was dissapointing was that none of the mtb'es stopped to see if those who fell were ok (it could of been one of their own mates)(there were about 12 mtb'ers) the two roadies were then picked up so it was bad enough to stop them cycling home.
  5. while training this morning , i had a bunch of Epic trainees on mtb's climbing Tiekie and then turn around to descend back to where they came from. on the way down, at the sharp curve to the left they had a fall when two roadies in telekom pink swerved to avoid a bike in front of him. the 1st road then fell and his partner came down behind him. the roadies must have joined up with them when the mtb'ers turned at the top. it seems like the roadies were trying to overtake on the right and the mtb'ers were chasing their mates and probally did not realise the roadies were there.
  6. anyone heard anything yet??
  7. the rider , in taking avoiding action , braked too hard and slid under a car, from my position , he hit his head on the front of the car - like i said the car wasn't moving but it was a sickening blow, his head snapped back as he hit the the car, so either he has very bad facial injuries or "bad whiplash. don' want to blame anyone , it was sort of "wrong place at the wrong time"
  8. it was a cape town event.
  9. anyone know how bad the cyclist who slid under a car is? coming down Komm Pass a rider brake hard to avoid a bakkie turning into the Cafe parking and then slid into and under a car , the car (i think) had just pulled out of cafe parking and was able to brake and stop.
  10. large bunches of cyclists are going to get us banned never mind a bad name. when cyclelab were in Sea Point we had the same problem. if one rider got thru the intersection outside the waterfront , the whole bunch just followed no matter what the traffic lights were on. its mob mentality. as for "the finger" . if anyone in our bunch did that they wouldn't be riding again with us.
  11. BM - true , but Buycycling had the same headlines ten years ago when they were an All American issue. what bugs me the most is that they contradict themselves like "how to cut fat out of your diet" then the following issue they advise "how to lose weight eating fat".
  12. don't bother with either - i just want to puke every time i see "how to climb like a pro in 10 easy steps" or your "10 week plan to a faster Argus" in the BUYCYCLING MAG.
  13. must be a Cyclelab member - there have been reports that two juvenile baboons have been expelled from the local troop in Tokai Forest. they probally joined up with Cyclelab.
  14. there is also a cycle tour taking place directly after the Giro which will take place over two weeks.
  15. any feed back from Golden Arrow or PPA
  16. bikemax, i suppose it's your decision but will u be going in with cyclelab?
  17. just to correct a perception. the CSA office staff don't run cycling in SA they are just office staff.period. i haven't had a problem at all dealing with them because i make sure that the forms are filled in completely and correctly and they have been signed by all the appropiate people and are on the club schedule with the correct amount of money. i took forms in on a Thursday and our members received the licenses in the post on the Monday. i agree with you their smoking stinks.
  18. if you find that for eg your hill intervals times on the heavier bike are comparable to what you are accomplishing on your lighter bike then your power to weight ratio should be improving !!!
  19. the "heavy" has a 170mm crankarm vs the 172mm on my "lightbike" - geometry = saddle height, distance between saddle and stem. what else?
  20. will training on a old steel bike have any positve / negative effects when changing to a lighter bike for racing?
  21. exposure for cape youngsters in local media??? heres a tip for parents/coaches who want exposure for their youngsters - write the article and contact the "sports section" of the burger / argus , if it is topical , they will print it. journalists, dont go looking for articles to write - the big sports (soccer/rugby/cricket) keep them busy enough. if the Argus did not sponsor the "Argus" believe me you wouldn't get read anything about it. my 2 cents
  22. Muxman, dont worry when i started cycling i thought BB stood for ball bearings. **** , they must be special ball bearings to cost so much.
  23. ja city you are right , the shp in question is WE lifestyle , can't blame them ,the disabled bays are right outside their door and well signposted. but the giant distributor takes the cake by parking in them.
  24. can't handle seeing cyclists parked in DISABLED BAYS outside a well known cycling outlet in the northern suburbs, even worse is seeing a bike distributors van parked there
  25. Step 3 Once your payment has been received and your application has been checked against the PPA and Cycling SA databases, you will get a final e-mail saying that you may collect your race pack from your designated (as per the registration form) local bike shop. You must take a copy of this e-mail, as well as your Cycling SA licence, with you when collecting your race pack. The bike shops have been instructed not to hand over a race pack unless the confirmation e-mail and licence are produced. the above was taken off the Falcon Sports Website - sorry to say but this "step 3" is open to abuse. your lbs will just hand over the license, they wont argue the toss if you can't produce a CSA license. some of the shops don't even know what a license looks like. if they don't get paid to provide this service there wont be a service. will Facon deliver to Cycleworx in Sedgefield???? i personally think this is the first step in the demise of the PPA League.
