  1. Ill shut up And that is more than half the problem. If you gave half a toss about the sport, considering you experience already, then you need to consider why it is that you don't contribute in a positive manner. Unless of course, you also stand to lose personally/financially.
  2. Nope, they all signed the contract. They should go after him with everything they have. Otherwise where does it end? Draw the line! Next I'll start believing that guys that I race against at a local league level are taking stuff.
  3. Sure, but are you saying that RH dopes or takes illicit/illegal PED's
  4. Do you think there are ANY clean riders at the tour...NOT Chunky, you include RH in this statement?
  5. Andwhat drug is Robbie Hunter on? "One has to wonder" how he managed to finish regularly in the top 5 this year when last year he couldn't even place in the top 30? So if someone achieves something that is above mediocre then they automatically are on drugs? C'mon have some faith!!! There is more than a slight probability that they are doing it without PED's.[/Quote] Apologies to Willehond! Well now my faith is about as solid as .... I give up! Windbreaker2007-07-24 11:54:28
  6. In theory lugging the bike around is fine (if you are driving) but it's quite difficult to just jump on the bike in a city/town that you are unfamiliar with. For example I thought that the hills around Glen Austin was the perfect place for me to do my early morning sessions. And they were great until 5 past sunrise when it becomes a taxi highway from Tembisa to Halfway House. I had to head home VERY carefully after 3 near misses. The other guests at the B&B didn't appreciate the whine of the IDT at 5:00 am either. So ... I also find it hard to train when I'm "out of routine"
  7. So I recently did a 5 day cycle tour. Serviced my bike and made sure that my tools & spares were all in order. My right pedal was a bit iffy so I bought a spare set and took that along just in case. On day two, in the middle of nowhere a fellow tourist breaks his pedal. The tour organisers don't carry spare pedals and I offer up mine. Now if that was me on the receiving end I would arrange that as soon as we arrived in a town with a bike shop the replacement pedals would be waiting and I'd return them with a thanks. It's now over two weeks since I lent the pedals out. I've called the dude and I got some bullsh*t story about importers not having stock blah, blah. The point is, the bikeshop where I originally purchased the pedals have stock, but I guess that this guy doesn't want to pay the retail rate. My pedal is becoming worse by the day. So what do I do? It's not about the cost of the pedals it's the principle. Do I phone the guy again and try to remain civil to him or do I just buy another set, learn my lesson and never lend equipment to a fellow cyclist in need? Windbreaker2007-07-22 09:04:42

  9. Hunter is doing an excellent job. If he commits any earlier he will not carry the speed. His biggest challenge is trying to work out how not to get boxed in. He went left today - correctly
  10. I personally think that Robbie is the fastest right now but he is probably going to come off second best to Boonen & Zabel 3 times out of 4 simply because he has to do so much work to position himself. Boonen has excellent lead out men that control the timing of his sprint so that all he has to do is kick. Hunter has to jostle all the way and keep an eye out to avoid being boxed. He has to start his sprint before the other sprinters. Yet his consistent placings say it all. He took a bike length out of Zabel and two out of Boonen and was carrying the most speed over the line.
  11. Haven't watched it but from what I have read it looks as if RH's win was assisted by a TBW team effort to get rid of the other major sprinters. Obviously there were other motives with Astana being th emain protagonists of the break but I wonder if this was a specific tactic employed by Corti this time and whether he now believes that Hunter can outsprint the (other) big boys. Let's see what Robbie's diary says.
  12. So you reckon he'll be booed again at the next Giro???? Well done Robbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. I had the CS200CAD when it first came out. Returned it before the end of the week because it wouldn't upload. The replacement was returned with the same problem - also within a week. Bought a 725 instead.
  14. Just watching the highlights from all the stages on Supercycling and poor Robbie Hunter was ssssssooooooooo close so many times! I guess that Corti underestimated his capabilities and should have committed to supporting him for those first few sprints. After his second placing the other teams knew to watch for him and he was a marked man. If only ....... What a year at TdF!!!??? Windbreaker2007-07-17 12:46:40
  15. Angela will send them to you - there aren't many though.
  16. Sussing out the competition already?
  17. The way I understand it is that this will be an event that is intended to attract national participation with serious prizes on offer. It will be quite a big event if it comes off. I am sure that "know your 40 TT time" is a marketing statement so don't read more into it than that. As willehond says, road closure, timing and prizes all cost! ... and as someone else said if you are not interested then don't let it bother you! Move on.
  18. It's wide open and just for that fact alone it is really interesting. I was about to state that RH has made it especially exciting and that was true till today but all of a sudden have a few more TBL riders in the mix has really spiced it up for me. Overall - just as exciting as any prior TdF ps after today you can't cliam the "slow cause of drugs thing" - 41km/hr??!!
  19. In the running for Green, White & KOM!!!! Lets hope they can keep it all rolling. They had Sherwin & Liggett tongue tied as well ... Not bad at all!!
  20. I was building a bike for my son a little while back and somehow got chains mixed up. Had a 10 spd chain on a 9 speed groupset and it made a hell of a racket from the cassette and gear changing definitely wasn't lekker. Changed the chain to a 9 speed and it solved the problem. So I would say that if you really need to mix then you should use a 9 speed to match the cassette - but the front deraileur / gear change might not be too smooth.
  21. Keep flying the flag guys! If it were easy we'd all be doing it.
  22. Now that would be something! I've been looking for the jersey point standings after todays stage but not updated yet on www.letour.fr Where did you get them?
