Seems the last group goes off at 1021B... A second lap is allowed is it? Just leave the timing chip behind?

Of the guys starting earlier how many are planning on doing a second lap?

Considering that the seeding came out today how many are starting their taper??

Of course if you are riding with deep sections, particularly ZIPPs, nobody can stay with you, unless they also have deep sections!! I believe the no-name brand deep sections do not have the same effect though...

That would be some serious pace...

You could try get away at the short steep climb (offramp)which you climb up onto the highway and then push all the way up tollgate for the last few k's through the city...you might be able to stay away.

Could get interesting...pretty sure there won't be much of a wind though. We hope:)

Ride the first hill (Fox) at your pace and most likely a small group will form around you or you will join a smaller group. Try work with the group whilst it is smaller but then sit in as the group gets bigger and save energy to help out later on when some splitting happens during the race. If you do go to the front and are going too fast or too slow, believe me you will hear about it quickly:) Seems like you have been riding quite a lot (MUCH more than me!!)...so best of luck.

A number of Average speed sections starting from van Reenen... It is quite possible that those cameras will be too slow to capture your Kombi though:)

From what I have seen it looks like a very well organised tour. I like the fact that it is a charity event where they don't play around with small amounts and raise big moola as a result...nothing worse than trying to sell loads of R2 raffle tickets.

Nope.weather last year was good, the year before saw some rain. Nothing too hectic just some drizzle early on in the race. Bring on the rain...the farmers need some:)

The Scott's seem to convert fine but most bikes do not convert too well...

Could possibly give a lift to one or two folk after the race.

And MTNs Sergio Pardilla fourth on the stage in the lead group...now 5th on GC

@nicko when do you put your Specialized up for sale then? What size is it?

Cascades if you in pmb otherwise head up to Howick and Karkloof trails. Possibly easiest to park at Karkloof club and follow marked routes from there. If you up to just riding and exploring loads of great single track and forest riding park at the Howick private hospital/gym and enter the first single track a few hundred meters up Currys post road.

That reward is quite substantial...

I only mentioned the standard bank group because that is a group who I know do the trip. They do have to raise/pay in a lot of money but its all for a good cause. I do believe that this trip can be done for a reasonable amount, staying at decent places,with a back-up vehicle and therefore not having to carry bags etc on the bike. Any ideas or further info on groups doing a trip like this would be great.
