Sounded like an accusation. You should word yourself better.

He worded it completely fine. How did it 'sound like an accusation'?  He simply said it seemed possible something could be faulty with the powermeter.

Not sure what feed you’re watching but it’s been very good. On the e-bike video, up the climbs, down hill and more.

Yes it definitely got much better! The first 30 minutes when I turned on the TV was literally just the start ramp. But the footage became good once the final riders had set off - hence my edit.

Its a theory I always fully subscribed to but then in 2020 the bunch decided to continue racing after Edinburgh climb and I only managed to catch them in Simonstown, was so stuffed I got dropped on Smits again, used the last few matches to catch them again before Scarborough and then stuffed up me was finally completely dropped on the little climb after Misty Cliffs. This year I'll try harder on Edinburgh...

I had a similar experience in 2019 (the very windy year). I was in % group and arrived last in my shute so was right at the back.  A crash at the back of the group on the narrow on-ramp to Nelson Mandela Blvd caused a snarl-up, and me and a handful of stragglers at the back were disconnected from the bunch.  We spent the first part of the race fighting our way back onto % in the howling South Easter.  After just about latching back on by the bottom of Edinburgh Dr, the bunch upped the tempo and we were off the back again.  There were about 7 or 8 of us, but only me and one other guy took turns chasing into the South Easter all the way along the Blue Route and Muizenberg to try catch %.  Was totally futile and I wore myself out completely. My race was stuffed and I suffered late on more than I ever have in any race I can remember.

  4. Their football teams and mountain bikers, especially downhill, have not been too bad.  Wasn't Julien Absalon also pretty successful? Think he might have won a race or two.

Won the most World Cups of any country (football) since 1998!

Don't feel too sorry for them ????

I had a totally broken top tube and seat stay after a freak accident where I rode into a grid on a bridge - the steel bars of the grid were about 40mmm apart but aligned parallel to my travelling direction! CBR repaired both the breaks, resprayed the whole bike two new colours and rebuilt the bike. It now not only looks like a brand new bike but rides like it did when it was brand new as well. Fantastic quality workmanship and attention to detail.

Sounds like a hectic grid where even a car would have suffered damage!

Thanks for the feedback - good to hear from another satisfied customer.

  6. Reviving an old thread.

Can anybody vouch for Carbon Bicycle Repairs in Durbanville (James Perry)?  I'm having some minor repair done to drive side chainstay of my Bianchi Oltre, where a jammed chain gouged a bit of the carbon.  Said to be not serious and a relatively easy repair.

I wonder if there will b any recourse from that.

He should go to jail. That was shameful. Even that kids parents can't love him after that!

Would appear so. I saw Patch had posted but before i could read it had disappeared. Thought i had lost my mind.

Maybe Patch insulted someone and its iced. ????

It looked like he posted something fairly harmless. Can't remember..

I tried to share an amusing video of Alan Jones responding to young climate change activists like Greta Thunberg.  But I think it would have been far too controversial for the new look bikehub.

Quick question for those who have been here longer than me. Why now? The off topic sections such as Current Affairs etc. were created by the Hub, not members , and I cant imagine things have only got "out of hand" recently. Why is it that these topics are now no longer allowed?

    The Age of Cancel Culture?

Did you type that whilst wearing a Power Balance hologram bracelet?

In my opinion, this is a soft approach from the owners of this site. They must either end all non-cycling related topics/posts/thoughts or allow off topic with proper moderation, not the uneven sometimes too hard and sometimes non-existent moderation currently taking place.

A note to the girls' blouses here, if you were offended by content here, stay away from myBB, that'll have you crying to mommy within a couple of threads.

This forum is actually not particularly rough or toxic compared to many other other forums and parts of the internet.  For the most part people manage to have cordial and often interesting discussions.  I believe the admin are making a mistake by doing this.  Perhaps embracing the current spirit of cancel culture a little too enthusiastically.  But at the end of the day it's their forum and they will make the decision they think is in their best interests.

  11. I wonder how much moderating really needed to be done on off-topic.  I guess there was the occasional flare-up, but hardly every day or every week. And usually nothing too serious.  But I suppose for the admin to have taken this step they must have been receiving constant complaints from forum members who felt offended.  From my side I have never once complained to a mod or reported someone.  I think it's an overreaction to cancel these threads.

  12. Glad you are relatively okay Pure Savage.  But what a horrible experience!

Just to share some info; my wife punctured at the bottom of Ocean View hill last Sunday morning.

We were on the side of the road for 10-15 minutes, changing the tube etc.  Not the greatest place to get a flat...Anyway there was a guy eyeing us out and after a while he approached us.  At first we assumed he had bad intentions, but instead he told us that we should move along as quickly as possible as the area has become very unsafe.  He mentioned that a number of bad eggs have returned to Ocean View from prison recently.
