  1. Wasn't it LOVELY to ride that bit through Fish Hoek without horrifying roadworks for the first time in 10 years??
  2. Just checked the website, Stage 3 was still listed as 116km two days ago but now it looks like they've replaced it with the 26km TT route the pro's were doing on Stage 1? Never mind that loss of some iconic climbs, further reducing the total Tour from 482km to 408.5km seems ludicrous!
  3. The 2019 99er gave me & Going for a ride

  5. Ai, doing so well then grabs for the ad hominem.
  6. A batch was remarkably well-behaved, I suspect this is highly correlated with the fact that we had a strict marshal with an earsplitting voice warning people to keep left of the line. One chump kept crossing right to see the head of the group, then pushed back in disrupting everyone. After a thunderous "THIS IS YOUR FINAL WARNING" (as he was trying to explain why it wasn't his fault) the behavior magically ceased. I realise A batch isn't quite as competitive as $, but the guys in A seem to take it pretty seriously and cross the line often in other races. I believe enforcement can change the behavior. Despite a large bunch I certainly felt safer in this race than a few before.
  7. Shows my seeding group from last year. I've since halved my index so that seems unlikely/disappointing..
  8. Keep in mind some guys drop back to ride with mates (or the are really really late). Just because somebody rode in 3E doesn't mean they were seeded there.
  9. He was allowed to ride it in the appropriate batch
  10. Great job CTCT They were a disruption at 947. Don't mind them starting in their own category at the back, but there were a few in earlier batches in violation of the rules. I guess the volunteers at the chutes were not told to keep them out.
  11. Can't fault the PPA Marshals. They control both the bunch and motor vehicle traffic like experienced professionals. We should draft a few of them into the Traffic Department

  13. Ad hominem (Latin for "to the person"), short for argumentum ad hominem, is a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself. source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
  14. https://www.strava.com/segments/17456439 I'm in. Helz at 22km on warm legs sounds perfect.
  15. Have you installed on a Trek Top Fuel? Don't think two bottles would fit, but would be great to have the cage and box like on the Silverback Sesta Pro above
  16. Plenty in the classifieds
  17. Can only be done at registration, cost is R50
  18. Any experience of the KMC X12-TI Gold? I've seen the higher end KMC chains seem to do much better than their Ultegra counterparts in 10/11sp, but the quality of the XX1 12sp chain is difficult to beat. Could they still be better than the GX 12sp? That's very encouraging. My XX1 chain has 1350km and nowhere near the 0.5 mark. I bought a spare on Black Friday and will follow your method once the first one reaches 0.5.
  19. From SRAM's website: "HARD CHROME™ technology extends the chain’s optimal performance life, and a Titanium Nitride coating on the Gold and Black models decreases corrosion and further reduces friction." https://www.sram.com/sram/mountain/products/xx1-eagle-chain So unfortunately we don't have that excuse - the gold chain is pure vanity! I also run gold though..
  20. You probably need to start pedalling a higher cadence! Are you in the smallest cog often? No they aren't replaceable on Eagle, but I've not heard of anyone having the issue you describe.
  21. SRAM's chain upgrade to 12 speed was excellent; 11 speed XX1 didn't get the same mileage. If you are looking for something more subtle they do sell the XX1 12sp chain in black.
  22. Would love to get a good deal on one of these, but the newer one RTL510 that has a proper light
  23. We are over complicating things! Tacx sell a freehub body for the Flux and Neo https://tacx.com/product/campagnolo-body/ Wahoo sell one as well, but it is only compatible with Kicker 1 and 2 (2014 and 2016 releases). So won't work with Kickr17, Kickr18 or Core https://www.wahoofitness.com/devices/bike-trainers/campagnolo-freehub-for-kickr-power-trainer Elite are an Italian company, so the Direto is compatible with Campy 8 to 11 speed out of the box http://www.elite-it.com/en/products/us/trainers/interactive/direto
  24. Perfect solution, but out for production for years now. http://www.bikerecyclery.com/american-classic-10-speed-shimano-to-campagnolo-conversion-cassette-11-23t-nib/
  25. I ended up buying a cheap old alu bike with 10sp Shimano 105 off the hub. Was told there's no way to make the Campy 10sp groupset on my Bianchi work with the Neo, and didn't want to subject my Spez carbon frame to indoor training. Between my wife and myself that bike has taken a sweaty sweaty hammering - so I don't regret the purchase one bit. It's on its 3rd chain already. The Bianchi and Spez only ever ride outside and both are still looking new.
