  1. Agreed on the 60% of lowest advertised price as in my dealing (selling and buying) that seems to be a sweet spot. A buyer that only ever goes to 50% will barely ever transact, whereas a seller going no lower than 75% will be the same. At 60% transactions go quickly. To each his own - if you are more patient you may get that better price. A lot comes down to the value of your time. Naturally I'd advertise a bit higher than said sweet spot in order to have some room for negotiation!
  2. +1 for Holy Rail system https://www.on-lynecomponents.com/collections/the-holy-rail
  3. Yes the Neo works well through a power failure, however make sure you have something to power your fan. I lasted maybe 10 minutes before I had to get off from overheating.
  4. Hi Naas, Could you do this one on Cyber Monday? Thanks! https://www.evobikes.co.za/bar-fly-sl-for-polar-and-garmin.html
  5. Any more of these? Should have been quicker, ready to go at this price but can't find it on the website.
  6. Enlighten those of us who didn't hear the tale? Were they from the same team?
  7. I don't know - I would have said the report should be released to paid-up CSA members as well. "A full disclosure of the findings and steps taken will be shared with the relevant institutions and authorities, including the Department of Sport and Recreation, SASCOC and the UCI."
  8. Astute observation re Takealot sponsorship! ASG perhaps didn't think this one through. For what it's worth, I grabbed one of those very early entries and that was in fact a better price than this deal.
  9. I doubt that has even been determined yet. Last year they completely scrapped the amateur team competition the day before the race started. Edit: For what it's worth, I recall we always started in four groups 10 minutes apart. Pros Men under 50 Men over 50 Women There were separate leader's jerseys for each age category, so in the "men under 50" batch we had three yellow jerseys at any given time. If there is an amateur team competition this year I guess it changes everything.
  10. You certainly could. Just ensure you get the hydraulic disc STI (ST-R8070 in current gen Ultegra for example) as you have disc brakes.
  11. 10mm in a subcompact?? Recoil must be a b****
  12. 830 is touch screen and can navigate to POI, that's about it. Yes old sensors still work.
  13. Longest ride I've done since getting the 830 was 5:38 and battery remaining was 71%. I don't trust the % reading though, would like to run it to zero to get an idea of how long it would last. The sensors I run are speed, HR, Assioma pedals (power+cadence), UT800 and RTL510. I wonder how much of a drain all those sensors are on battery life.
  14. Temperature reading taken by Edge 820 at last year's 947, 6:15 start time. 24 degrees average. Warm enough in places to be uncomfortable. I recall 9:30am at the finish venue it was already a struggle to find a shaded table to enjoy your beer, sitting in the sun was too unpleasant. If you start an hour later your ride is significantly more challenging, on top of being surrounded by fewer guys capable of doing sub 3. It was quite a hot day for early November; hopefully this year is cooler. As an aside - the temperature fluctuations are quite interesting between different areas! The finish is clearly a bit cooler than the stretch on the R55.
  15. Doubtful, the moment you open it to the public vagrants and criminals become Gautrain's problem. But certainly worth a shot.
  16. Exactly, but if everyone's index values increased proportionately it makes no difference as it's purely about your value relative to the next guy. Edit: Sort of a "if all children are special, none of them are" kind of reasoning
  17. This is the only plausible route I could stomach! I'd suggest driving it with a car in peak traffic first, just to get a feel for it and decide if you'd feel safe on the bike. I used to drive these routes if there was an accident on the highway - also lived in Centurion and worked in Sandton. The R101 is too dangerous for cyclists.
  18. I was seeded A with a 19.7 last year, so pretty certain you'll be B at least and maybe even A
  19. Only a few of the teams have support vehicles. Most participants just finish the race with their 2 water bottles I think. I agree it is irresponsible, WP should be held to some kind of standard for hosting an event open to the public. Anyone can enter, all are welcome. If you invited cat1 racers only and everyone knew there would be no water it is understandable.
