  1. In all the brake bleeding and fork servicing manuals the yanks refer to "isoprol alcohol" to wipe everything clean? What is it called here and where can you get it. It probably nullifies the damage the DOT4 fluid can do to paintwork etc? Also, is suspension fluid harmful to paint etc. like DOT 4 brake fluid?
  2. There was a guy in the 80's that used to ride over tollgate arches on an XT500. cops were always after him... it used to make front page of the paper.
  3. Tandem wheels.... 25mm tyres.
  4. Jens is a legend and an icon. Been an awesome guy to watch... BUT, he has been a pro for something like 18 years... He has been peddling away through cyclings darkest days!! Personally, for the sake of the sport, i prefer to see the old guard move on.... I also like Stuart O'Grady..... and as these older guys retire, they all seem compeled to confess.. and right now its 10 out of 10 of them!!!! Jens?? My flame suit is on.....
  5. I wonder what Shimano are plotting to counter SRAM 1x11? i suspect it will be ground breaking, they are top of teh food chain afterall?? Maybe 1x11 electronic?
  6. Geoff Kabush has sponsored medical insurance! And him having a catastrophic crash will get 15 000 000 you tube and TV hits.... Good for sponsor coverage!!? Personally, i think running 3 bolts per rotor is grounds for a Darwin award. AM hubs come with a red reinforcing ring for use with unsuported rotors ie. rotors with no meat on the rotor between the bolts (formula rotors). This is because the hub also lacks meat around the rotor bolt mounts. There is nothing wrong with the AM hubs if you follow the instruction advice. I cant remember, but i think it also warns against the use of Ti bolts.
  7. I haved used a thin 3in1 type oil in mine for 2 year with zero problems? i think the key is that oil is nice and thin ie. low viscosity. so the bush / pawl system works nicely. If you put grease or thick oil in there, then the pawls stick and dont engage.
  8. its actually pretty simple..... its dead flat and theres no place to park a car!! duh,,, so take your bike!
  9. Awesome..... How does the belt compare to a chain in the following:- -Noise -Drivetrain friction -stretchyness (if there is such a word?) -lifespan
  10. Dont even get me started on this...... Look at athletics.... No money to send University athletes to athletic meets in europe, and then it comes out in the wash that a group of fat cat "observers" went to the meet.. business class and 5star hotels? Ate all the chicken drumstiks europe could offer!! Then...... when an athlete pays his own way to europe and medals at a meet... Athltics SA bang their chest... "loook at our atleets" The Brits have every right to claim Froome.... they threw big money at developing him and the Great Britian Cycling build up to london 2012. Would be interesting to find out from Chris if Cycling SA ever helped him with 1c to get to where he is? Would also be interesting to know indirectly how much daryl has benefited from Australian Government cycling projects. probably quite a bit.... Wonder how much support he got from our governing body to go cut his teeth in Europe back then? BTW... sorry about the rant.... and my eyes welled up every time i saw the SA flag and Daryl in yellow... just wish our government would throw all these up and coming athletes a lifeline...
  11. Motor oil for me..... Tried everything and ended up on a Castrol oil for diesel engines. Had a can of the stuff given to me at an auto show... used it in desperation and never looked back. Its thin enought that it gets right into the chain. its not thick that it gets all goopy and black,, infact after a long mtb the chain isnt gunged up and still running without squeecks Oh, and im definetly getting the best life out of my chains and cassettes...
  12. That girl nailed the moon walk...... MJ would have been proud...
  13. I'm also interested in this?
  14. i want a 27,5inch trance...... now!!!
  15. Reading all this..Seems that if you want to ride your bike saturday and sunday, get a SID? And if you want to ride you bike lekker plush on saturday and spend sunday maintaining it, get a lefty?
  16. First make sure the barrel adjuster is tuned in correctly..... not too sensitive to up shifts and not too sensitive to down shifts.. if that makes sense? when its too sensitive to up shifts it doesnt cause too many problems at the bigger end of the cassette, but at 11,12,13 it sometimes wants to ghost shift... and definetly check for bent hanger. Its got nothing to do with front crank / chainrings
  17. These older guys retiring is good riddance.
  18. i little while back they had this story on Trandworld sport.... His nick name is "Eric the eel"
  19. That weight of 2kg sounds to me like its been weighed with the fork, headset, seatpost, and maybe the BB still in?
  20. Great career, hopefully clean..... But its good he is opening a gap for new young talent..... Time for the new brood!!
  21. Rode it saturday.... Video makes it look smooth, but in reality section are quite rooty and the rock gardens are not as easy as they make them look. They know the lines, and the speed to carry.... Also, the down sections look flat... but there are a few sections where you are right off the back of your seat!!!
  22. I say good for Robbie...... Social media is consuming people..... damned if you do, damned if you dont!!! Infact, right now im pretty anti all media... The the journo's are grilling Froome about doping? let the authorities do there testing work.. if a test is possitive then grill him, otherwise lets get on enjoying the tour....... its spoiling it for Froome and us..
  23. I'll never forget an interview on tv with Burry after he had raced against the Caveman in an mtb or team xtera type race?? Burry said he was hating the flat sections just trying to hold Conrads wheel... so much power.. He said he would just hang on until the climbs where he could recover a bit.....

    XX1

The taller teeth on the XX1 and wolf rings help prevent the chain jumping off the chainring. You have no front derailler to keep it on... These taller teeth and clutch rear derailler make it safe to run without a chain guide or front derailler.
  25. You can only powder coat metallic objects. It gets electrically charged to create negative and positive fields in the chamber. The powder then gets statically attracted to the metal frame..
