  1. Thanks mate Much appreciated !! ????????
  2. Agreed a local treasure. One of the most compelling doccies I’ve seen in a long time.
  3. But if rode that bike thing on pats track it would break in half.
  4. No pedals and im guessing no sealant. So basically the same as Op build
  5. Can you please send me a location of where the trails start? Also are they well marked?
  6. Really !!!! Woohoo im off tomorrow!
  7. Sorry i cant help myself i just built this bad boy. Finished a 90km round the mountain loop including all the tokai downhills from Donkey to all the snakes . Was on the bike for 6 hrs it was brilliant.
  8. Thanks Cap, it came in quite low budget as most of the parts were transferred from my trail bike. Yip its a SB Slade trail frame
  9. Those chains are used by guys who cycle around continents . Can do like 80 000 km on them with zero maintenance
  10. 100% correct Some people should not get into any long term lease debt trap . Some people should finance a portion of said asset if it suits long term goals. Some folks can drop cash or take on full debt depending on Their circumstance and work it to their advantage. Everyone is different so no right or wrong answer . Every individual will require a plan that works for them. Not for you or for the bank or the dealer for THEM!
  11. That’s not true they called joggers not runners !
  12. Is that the internal gearbox thingamijig! I’ve Heard it’s the future?
  13. Wow very similair builds i see you also when the raw alu look. Im really loving this bike . I find the 2.6 recon actually grips pretty well and the xr2 on the back rolls very well for such a big tyre.
  14. My new toy. Info on the agressive HT thread
  15. Ok after a few hiccups in trying to source some weird parts that nobody seems to have i have finally managed to get the build done. Behold the HAMMERHEAD 2.0. hammerhead 1.0 was built a few years ago that was a light carbon HT. The 2.0 is a agressive HT. The actual HH image was sandblasted on the frame thanks to Jarred at BMC. A bit of background. I have basically upgraded my DS bike with new parts so i have transferred the wheels, handlebar , and other bits to this project. The frame is/was a ????? (take a guess) that i have stripped to get the raw aluminium look. This has a number of advantages besides looking cool. Mainly the fact It cannot get scratched , marked or scuffed as i just need to buff it out. So this is a true war machine. Fork : Fox 34 Rythm 140mm travel Wheels: Bontranger 30mm internal elite 30 Dropper: Lyne 150mm Handlebar carbon bontranger with 35mm stem SLX brakes, shifter and derailer Tyres 2.6 recon Front and Bontranger XR2 2.6 rear All in including pedals and lots of sealant for the fat rubber she came in at 12.8 kg Took it out this morning for her virgin ride. Rode very rocky and technical stuff on signal hill and table mountain. She was fun, fast and a lot more capable than i ever thought a HT could be.
  16. Go to stoke he has a few maxxis in stock Alternatively go to a trek dealer and get Bontranger xr4 for your front and an xr3 for the rear. Great tyres they last forever and in 3 years of hard riding i have had one puncture.
  17. I am currently running Maxiss dissectorr 2.4 on my front it weighs 860g and grips and rolls fast. Highly recommended . I would pair it up with a Recon 2.4 on the back or a perhaps a forekaster. That will be a nice light ,fast rolling combo with good grip
  18. In due course not going to spoil the unvailing with sneak peaks!!
  19. Im chucking 2.6 rekon upfront with Bontranger 2.6 XR2 out back. On paper they both very light 820g and 760g on my scale? So TBH im a tad worried these tyres will not last on my very rocky trails, but lets see.
  20. The pedal thing is giving me a headache. Ive always used spd , but have always wondered about flats. So i need to make a call this weekend. If i get flats do i need a specific mtn shoe or can i use an old pair of flat takkies (puma type)? Also with flats do you guys wear shin guards?
  21. Got all my parts , the build will start tomorrow.
  22. Looks Great, did you use 2.5.wt tyres ?
  23. And if those dont fit on the trail, you can take a bolt off your front rotor. they have 6 bolts so removing one wont be an issue. i know cause i did it as my water cage bolts didnt fit. i now keep extra bolts in my tool kit.
  24. Thanks Morne Ok the slade trail is a boost frame so i will go with a boost crank for simplicity sake. But will there be no issue running different 12 speed setups . Can i mix and match shimano, sram and sunrace?
  25. ANother noob builders question. Can i use any crank if i want to run an 12 speed casstette and derailer . Does eg a slx cranks from a 11 speed work on eagle chain and casstette?
