  1. Farewell and RIP Pete Shelley - Buzzcocks, influential in his own way.
  2. Haven't done a night ride for ages but at least my lights are getting used now.....

    Tattoos

I dont have any tattoos but I love the more unique designs that incoporate something personal. Not something I have ever considered for myself but some tattoos are true pieces of art and are beautiful. Edit - spelling ????
  4. Felt like listening to this today.
  5. It's interesting how support often travels down the family generations I. E Dad takes his son/daughter to matches or watches on the telly and his Dad did the same. Yet sometimes in a family there are opposing supporters too. Thank goodness it's not based on religion or Sectarian issues anymore (Celtic and Rangers fans aside).
  6. I think the way you are approaching it as fun is great and so important. Alot depends on the nature of the child too. My 7yr old is competitive so in races the moment it starts he immediately 'weaves' his way in and around the other riders and gets right to the front. He races hard and does very well. However my other son is quite happy to ride wherever, have a chat and wait for other riders and rarely overtakes yet he is also a very capable rider but he is not competitive. They both enjoy it in their own way and that makes me happy. So if Maritz would like to get further up then gently suggest he does so right in the beginning and stay on the outside to make overtaking easier. Enjoy and continue the way you are by making it all about fun.
  7. Nice recipe! Did you use normal onions or are there specific sweet ones to buy as recipe says sweet onions?
  8. Wishing you strength in the days ahead.
  9. Current 'musicians' probably don't even know what it is...
  10. Quite a few of the UK shops online deliver to SA. Like Jd sports. Not sure if they have that specific top though.
  11. Thank you for the update. Much appreciated.
  12. Not been on hub for months and I am so very distraught to now read this thread. I have no adequate words. Sending love and strength to Karmi and her parents. Sending strength also to 2bliss.
  13. Anabel Karmel recipes were very helpful. It really is worth the effort of making the food yourself. Sweet potatoes were always a winner.
  14. Busy catching up with this thread as not been on the hub for ages. Landy I am happy to hear that life is improving and that there are new people in your life. Enjoy and continue to move forward.
  15. Aah. Daschunds. I had 3 daschies, all rescues with varying degrees of quirkiness. Loved them to bits and they always made me laugh with their antics. Sadly they have since crossed Rainbow Bridge. Honestly didn't realise they were known as nippy dogs but those were the days before kids or friends having kids.
  16. So sorry for your loss. Never easy to lose a friend. Condolences to his family and loved ones. Also sad for the 2 cyclists who also lost their lives. May they all RIP.
  17. Nothing wrong with that. Our maid was away so I thought I'd try iron the children's school shirts. What a pain. They still looked creased an hour later. I bought extra school uniform from then on in case of unexpected emergencies.
  18. Be kind to yourself. Your marriage was a failure, that does not mean that you are a failure. Some days will be great and you will think man wish this had happened earlier and some days will be not so great and you may wish for the past. All part of the process and soon the good days will far outnumber the bad days.
  19. Gorgeous girl!

    Who remembers?

Also if my very hazy memory serves me correctly there was a hot dog vendor outside the Doors and for a shortish while a pizza place across the road that was open all hours.

    Who remembers?

No then I never went there but I had heard talk of it so maybe that's why it was familiar.

    Who remembers?

CCHQ sounds vaguely familiar. Where abouts was it? I left SA for a bit to go back to UK so missed some of Joburg club scene.

    Who remembers?

In Joburg I remember Le Club, The Doors, Chelsea Underground, Club Image and a few other dark and dingy spots. Great fun though!
  24. Thanks Gen I think I might try this.
  25. Don't be too hard on yourself. Everybody makes mistakes and it takes two to break down a marriage. We all learn from our past, both good and bad experiences. Take any lessons learnt with you into the future and apply them.
