  1. Also possible to check the limit screws on the derailer(???) thingy- had a problem where it was on the limit so it couldn't shift...

    MTB handpump

Friend of mine has a little one with a piece of wire so that it is like a little floor pump- wasn't soo mini, but worker lekker.
  3. I think you are signed in on a site or have them loaded elsewhere and so we can't see them as some sites block this kind of reposting activity...
  4. So my freehub on the crosstrails is used up it would seem and after some googling I found the following on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HUBDOCTOR-PRO-MAVIC-FREEHUB-REBUILD-KIT-HYBRID-CERAMIC-BEARINGS-/330940493909?pt=US_Cassettes_Freewheels_Cogs&hash=item4d0d973055 Has anybody used it? Basically seems to be an insert and the right size bearing to get ride of the nylon bush- seems like a win to me and half the price of a new mavic hub? Any comments or advice? I see there are a few rebuild kits that one can buy as well which also seem to be cheaper.
  5. How did you check the BB? Both bearings smooth all the way around?
  6. Cyclelab has them... R130 for a set if I remember.
  7. Ah, I see it is a wireless computer... that makes more sense.
  8. Some spinning instructors has been using the bike a bit in the class with pushup type things and side to side racing type moves... Gets your arms working a bit...
  9. I think it is very unlikely that the light is causing the interference, but I could be wrong. Have you tried forcing it to happen, i.e. take the light off completely and move it around computer to see if you can make it happen. Then do the same with the light off and with no light...
  10. Agree with the safety glasses... used them for a long time and chuck them if they're scratched. Otherwise I have a pair of BBB which have interchangeable lenses and were around R300 and have lasted around 4 years- lot longer than I expected.
  11. Agree, willing buyer, willing seller... One of those things that you don't have to sell to buy a new ones and i'd guess that those for sale are from people who already have a new one, so they selling their spare and sometimes it is nice to have a spare so if they don't sell it is not the end of the world. With more and more bikes around the prices should come down slowly
  12. The 56km uses the last part of the 101km route... its worth doing again since i can't remember much by that point of the 101...
  13. Who knows, maybe they grade the roads before the event this year??? One can only hope. I live there sometimes so I'm biased, but no bottle necks, good waterpoints with some food towards the end with some single track every now and then to keep it interesting. Other places to eat- The chinese place next to spur (Very very good- Kenny is a legend), O's down by the river and Plum tree, which is opposite Hoi Polloi. If you go "out" at night, take your spanner in your sock and avoid outlaws.
  14. The vibration could be caused by that but once again I doubt it- I think it would still have to be "twisting" the disc a little but and with less in contact it might be able to do it a bit more.
  15. I'd say it makes no noticeable difference- let sleeping dogs lie.
  16. It is actually very disappointing- they had a security guard around to check that you only used your feet and only top layer was actually money, the rest was fake and if you did break it with your feet by some miracle then you didn't even get to keep it. I think companies have become scared of doing big things like this as there are some very clever people out there who will make them pay.
  17. That stuff is homeopathic- i.e. absolute rubbish! EDIT: Teach me for not reading everything first, but annoys the hell out of me too. Olive leaf extract is good stuff though- give it a go.
  18. Turns out there was only $500 and you could only use your feet...
  19. If that's what Serbia's army woman look like I'd hate to be in trouble with the men...
  20. Possible pratleys job If you can find a male to male connector for that size pipe that could save you getting a new one, but this is all moot if you want to trust it 100% and if a new pipe is overboardly expensive.
  21. Get a 29er they do well at everything... oh no wait... Keep your outside pedal down and put your weight on it...
  22. My LBS put a little locktite on the offending spoke and only that one and never looked back since, even though I was not impressed when they did.
  23. Why?
  24. Haven't read the whole thread, but if it hasn't been said: There will always be a difference between your crank reading and hub reading, if there isn't there is a problem or the errors have cancelled each other out. A drive train with chain is only at max 98% or so efficient, so the hub should read slightly less power unless it is taking the inefficiency into account (I doubt it). This efficiency changes depending on the gear you are in etc. In theory there will also be a couple of small losses from reality to the crank version as there are bearings etc involved, but these are negligible, provided you BB is running smooth. Taking this further, the most accurate would be something on your shoe, to try and avoid any mechanical linkages, failing this the pedal option. There has also been some development in people making their own using a strain gauge of sorts. In theory this would be the cheapest and would be as simple as sticking something to your crank.
