  1. The pros get paid...
  2. Or in other words, you have to stand ride and push hard... or walk... I think in general when faced with an easier option humans take it...
  3. That is not going to be fun... Good luck.
  4. This isn't same same wax-on wax-off principle that Smooth-Joe-Coggs was talking about I hope...
  5. Pop it, get so methiolate inside it somehow and then thread some cotton through to keep it open a bit so you have the old skin there but it doesn't get infected underneath... Keep putting methiolate in. Last time I couldn't get any so mechurochrome (The red stuff) or spirits works just as well.
  6. That seems low... I get to 153 and regularly get over 180 while training...
  7. I saw some of these bone tech ones about 10 years back for around R2.5k, so they have gone down a lot. Would love to test some in a shop though.
  8. So a friend of mine never learnt how to ride a bike when he was young and I am going to teach him this afternoon in time for critical mass this evening... He's 20... any tips? I can't remember learning other than having fairy wheels or whatever and then at one stage my dad was running after me to try catch me if I came off... slightly different with somebody all grown up...
  9. Lance's new theme song: Somebody that used EPO... From Gotye
  10. I can't remember off hand now, but I think one of them can react badly with certain rubber compounds... I think it is quite rare though, but probably worth checking out.
  11. I think the rules i something like 18km per hour or less and you're ok...
  12. Depends if you can spell his name properly
  13. Blend some eggs
  14. That out and back caught me, nearly went on my rigid SS and very very glad I didn't. Even on the hard tail I couldn't pee after the race... is that normal?
  15. she was wearing pink...
  16. So there I am giving it my all on Sunday in the crater and the chick about 3 riders in front of me bails down the rocky section. All three of us right behind her stop and the two guys that were right behind her are helping her up (Something I don't agree with as she could have hurt her back and the guy is yanking her up and out the road [which is worse: a stuffed back or bikers riding over you?]). Anyway, what is the correct etiquette here... Me and the other guy not helping her up had a look, and my professional opinion was that she would probably be a bit sore but would life and her head looked ok, so we kept on going. I don't suppose that there is a right answer, but what would you do?
  17. What is your reasoning behind this? As far as I can reason it the belt might need slightly more power as it takes more energy to twist compared to the chain, however they are both still positive drive so that should be the only loss, or am I missing something?

Thanks for the input, now to find a front wheel.

Never had a bike fitted, so don't care much about changes to the geometry. As for rules, I don't do races so they don't apply. Why I would want to is as cptmayhem said, but also less energy needed to change the speed of the back wheel, whilst having the roll-over advantages of the big front.

So I've heard rumours and seen a few pics, but never heard anybody who rides one's opinion, if there is anybody that actually rides one? I have the space and fork to fit a big wheel up front but want to know if it is worth it...
  22. I agree, the universe has informed you to try singlespeed...
  23. Rant on: I am getting fed up with new people asking stupid questions, and not always stupid questions but questions that have been asked over and over and over again. Now maybe I've done it too, so I'm not blameless but now it is getting very annoying and it seems to be happening more often! I did see a very interesting site which should be highly recommended for some people: http://justf***inggoogleit.com/ Rant off. Solution: I propose a wiki section of the site with sections on how to buy your first bike. What to look for in a second had bike, how to ride on the road, how to ride off road and so forth. Something of a consolidation of knowledge of the hub at large and generally for the good of cycling. Suggestions, comments etc etc?
  24. Please enlighten me then Mr DangleSS
  25. There is a lot I can say and rant about SS, but at the end of the day nothing can compare to riding one and experiencing it for yourself. I am actually wandering now if there is anybody that has tried it and never wanted to do it again... Speak up and tell us why??? Oh, wrt to the weight "issue"- didn't steel is real come from the SS movement?
