I love threads like this. People will at some point mention someone who wrote a book with some credentials etc etc and that you should read it etc etc. If you want to make a scientific argument, post the peer reviewed scientific paper with the clinical trial, who it was funded by, what the placebo group's results were etc etc, otherwise I think it is all placebo- not saying that it won't work, but as has been said, a potato is a super cheap placebo compared to some of the other suggestions around.

Credit where credit is due: Rode in and asked for the price of a new BB. Was cheaper than I could get anywhere online and they put it in for an extra R30. Took an hour all in all. Thanks guys.

I do this all the time- there is nothing like passing a road up a hill on my mtb- its nearly as good as passing traffic. The only thing that this guy did wrong is wear an earphone. I think roadies just can't take being passed by things with wider wheels than themselves.

So in the end it was a simple fix. There are two seals and the second one doesn't get lubricated much so I got some read grease and lubed it up and all seems hunky dory for now... Seems that the slow lever kit is no longer sold so this was the only solution.

Also looking for a way to get the old ones out but need a sacrificial old one to try on first.

How about making the race cheaper and not making shirts for people who will only wear them once.

Don't know anything about it, but it could work on a similar concept to kers, i.e. at the start of the race it has no charge and every time you brake it charges it up which you can then use when you choose to... Don't know all the rules, but usually as long as these systems have no stored up energy at the start of the race they are allowed. The biggest problem is the weight.

Now I'm curious, after one particularly rough ride I had some blood in my urine- is that the start of this stuff or just as a result of the 50 off km of corrugations? Never happened again since then, but that was a very rough ride.

Banana and some jelly tots if I deserve them. To me the trick is more about when to eat as I often do it too late and have a dip before it starts working.

I've found that my slumps are a slight lack of sugar sometimes... Glass of oros and I'm good to go till supper. Also found that if i'm doing something it isn't as bad, but on the couch just compounds the problem.
