  1. "By Wednesday, a Facebook group called "1 Million Citizens Looking for Lance Armstrong's Stolen Bike" had grown to 1,282 members." Not quite the turnout they were expecting, eh...? Bet it was started by some yet-to-be disillusioned 12 year old fanboy
  2. No way! Seriaaaas? I don't like it' date=' think it should've been left alone in the eighties with Georgie boy [/quote'] Have to agree Mud! Nancy lost some brownie points over the weekend when I heard this song for the first time and remembered her knocking it the other morning.
  3. It's totally understandable....move outside your typical cycling circle and you'll realize just how much motorists dislike cyclists You really can't blame them
  4. Mmmm....something a bit heavier for me this morning In Flames and the Reroute To Remain album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4m0Lt5e6b4
  5. I just thought I should give a shout out to Bicycling Magazine and everyone else involved with this event. We attended the event at Delvera on Sunday as my GF has been considering a new bike. She hasn't even been riding for a year and as a result had no idea what to look for. No matter how much advice myself and our other riding buddies can give her, there's nothing that beats actually riding the different bikes available and getting a feel for each one. I really would encourage everyone to support these events in the future. It makes the whole decision making process of buying a bike so much easier. At the end of the day after riding the various bikes available she had no doubt in her mind as to which one she wanted and we're currently in the process of ordering it. Thanks also to the bike makers in attendance Giant Trek GT Schwinn Mongoose Merida Gary Fisher Commencal All were very helpful in terms of setup and information on the bikes. First prize goes to Trek/Fisher who went a few steps further by adjusting suspension and then giving us a breakdown of the bike's unique features. I'm sure if we'd asked, the other manufacturers would have made the same adjustments, Trek just seemed more thorough. And it seems kind of silly to not 'sell' your bike to a potential customer and point out the features on it before he rides it...? There was one incident that left us a bit disappointed. One particular gentleman was very helpful until he heard my GF currently rides a R 3000 Silverback. He proceeded to put her on his cheapest bike that was 2 sizes too big even though we'd enquired about something else. Both of us felt that his entire tone changed and he became completely disinterested in helping us. He might've just lost a sale right there as she rode a friend's bike a few weeks ago(one of said brand) and liked it very much but completely lost interest after this incident. All things considered, it was well worth attending the event and thanks again to Bicycling for organising it!
  6. We went out to the Ride Before You Buy event in Stellenbosch yesterday. We rode a number of bikes. Started off at Giant as we were pretty keen on the Trance X to start with. The large was out so my GF took the medium and I took a large Anthem X2. She fell in love with it almost instantly. After sampling a few other bikes we went back to Giant, she took it out again and I took the large Trance X2. I must say I was very impressed with it. It just felt a lot more lively than any of the other 5inch+ bikes we tried(Trek EX8, Commencal Meta 5, GT Force). It's an extremely playful bike and it just feels right. Accelerates very well, really chuckable in the singletrack and I was surprised by how light it felt and how much it loved to fly. I don't mean big jumps, just i.t.o. jumping ruts and little ridges in the trail. I really, really enjoyed it and I totally understand why people are raving about the bike as much as they are. It left me with a world of respect for Giant. I tried a Trance about 3 years ago and was really not impressed with the feel of the bike. I figured the setup on that particular bike might have had something to do with it so reserved judgement. I'm definitely a big supporter now. Few bikes I've ridden over the years have made me feel so 'at one' with the bike as the Giants I rode yesterday. Even the Anthem X felt great and really handled very nicely. Anyway, just wanted to let you know what I/we thought. She's got money burning a hole in her pocket so I'm ordering a Trance X2 for her today. MintSauce2009-02-16 07:08:09
  7. Actually, there's a whole lot in it. Typically, a 4 inch bike will have XC specific geometry ie steeper head angle, shorter wheelbase, lower BB height. The geometry will have a noticably effect on how the bilke feels. This might partly explain why you enjoyed the 5in Trance X more than the 4in Meta 4.2. Longer travel bikes typically tend to feel more playful and stable, especially at speed and on technical descents. It will also handle technical, rocky climbs better since the extra suspension increases traction. We're going to the Ride Before You Buy in CPT on Sunday since my GF is also shopping and the Trance X is on the list. I hope to try it myself. There's a bikeshop employee somewhere in CPT who owned one and switched to the much-lauded Ibis Mojo and says he prefered the Trance X to the Mojo. Good luck with the shopping cat-i!
  8. i think i know where the inspiration for that comes from? Agreed HR Shame Thug....having 2nd thoughts already...?

  10. I've 'broken' the chain about four times due to the link either coming undone or failing. Only once could I not find the link to reuse it. The rest of the time it was still fine, except for one incident when it looked like this...
  11. Well, now I know who that stalker is. Nothing says 'I love you' quite like a restraining order, eh Nancy? Anyway....song for the day....System by In Flames Cheerio
  12. What are those new Stan's rims called again...? The ones that are something like 100 grams lighter than the Olympics...? Get those. Shane at Bowmans builds some sweet custom wheels and he's a weight weenie so will be able to tell you what exactly is available.
  13. her song... Huh? "Roberta" Flack' date=' a she , her song[/quote'] No....sorry....but she(Roberta) is singing about a he Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly with his song I heard he sang a good song I heard he had a style And so I came to see him To listen for a while And there he was this young boy A stranger to my eyes Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly with his song I felt all flushed with fever Embarassed by the crowd I felt he found my letters And read each one out loud I prayed that he would finish But he just kept right on Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly with his song He sang as if he knew me In all my dark despair And then he looked right through me As if I wasn't there And he just kept on singing Singing clear and strong Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly with his song [break] Strumming my pain with his fingers Singing my life with his words Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me He was strumming my pain Yeah, he was singing my life Killing me softly with his song Killing me softly with his song Telling my whole life with his words Killing me softly With his song
  14. It's the fact that most of the tracks on Emotive are covers that really caught my attention. I think every one of their versions is a brilliant interpretation of the original. It's not easy taking a well-known song with an established history and an established sound in an audience's mind and then re-working it to still sound flippen brilliant....which is what I feel they've achieved. I mean really....how many hard rock bands can take Joni Mitchell's 'Fiddle And The Drum' and do an a capella version of it....? Joni's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOJLqdcJZJ0 Perfect Circle's THAT'S the best song on the album! I have to be honest, I don't really bother spending money on death metal. When I'm in the mood for it I just switch on my radio, turn the volume up and tune it so it doesn't pick up any signal....to each his own, eh!
  15. Haha....love the comment below the article by Jeff...."Also, we won without doping"
  16. Anyone here listen to A Perfect Circle....? Loving the 'Emotive' album at the moment. This track is one of my current favs....'Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums' Don't know if this is the official video, but if it is, it sure as hell is a fine piece of commentary on good old G.W.Bush.
  17. Love this song....for some reason it made me think of one of my other favorites Almaz by Randy Crawford
  18. Doesn't being a ponce come with Santa Cruz ownership already...? Kinda like BMW and Audi ownership...?

  20. Did she have her hubby pacing her the whole way again...?
  21. Does everyone have to piss in their pants every time they see cyclists riding three abreast and then come post it here? It's not gonna change... Let it be and move on...4 5 sakes Does everyone have to piss in their pants every time they see someone bitching and moaning on the Hub and then come post it here? It's not gonna change...
