  1. I bought a set of Rigida disk rim wheels with the tubeless strip installed as show in the pic. It is not the typical inner tube type rim tape. It looks more like a hard shaped plastic. Does somebody know what rim tape it is? Would it be possible to remove it without damaging it? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  2. Ok, now you just need to keep track what lever brakes the front wheel, brakes the rear wheel, shift the front derailer, shifts the rear derailer, locks out the fork, locks out the rear shock and changes the seat hight. Hopefully there is still space for grips on the handelbar after you installed the hartrate monitor, GPS and Speedo Ox_Wagon2008-07-16 02:58:24
  3. "According" to Shimano the road crank spacing not the same as MTB crank and you therefore need a diffrent front shifter. But then again I was told you can get it to work. But if you start doing all this rather get a roadbike or build a pavement special hybrid or look at somethinglike this. http://www.solomons.co.za/taxonomy/term/73?page=3
  4. Is this one better......
  5. Check out these guys, I got the plastic bushes for the kona there. They are in Midrand. http://www.skiffy.com/docs/menufr.cfm?ID=xyxz2809072A4&taal=gb&pagina=hpimgindex.cfm&gclid=CMvu6en_pZQCFRK6ugodLHlytg
  6. Been discussed before and O_man got it nailed. Also check if you chain stay gives you enough clearance for a bigger chainring. Insure that you have 11 at the back and run nice thin slicks other wise just get a road bike or a racing hybrid if you don?t like a road bike?s cockpit.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Play around with a gear calculator to see how much speed you actually gain for the money you planning on spending. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gears/
  7. Some of the UK MTB mags predict that adjustable seat post like the <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Joplin is the next big thing in MTBing, in line with MS comments about the need for seat post adjustment. http://www.crankbrothers.com/seatposts_joplin.php Not that it is a new idea. Remember those coil spring thingies of the early 90?s. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  8. I have a better idea You wont be happy with these unly bolts stiking out of the frame SOOOOOooooo you can just as well sell the frame to me
  9. I replaced my quick release with an allen key bolt to stop it sliding and have not had a problem since.
  10. Can't you find this stuff in ZA? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=19014 I think you also find a bracket that bolt in to the V-brake boss of the fork.
  11. Cool, finally a competition I can compete in. I will see what the boss says. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  12. The headset on my "new" Kona is in a bad state but I will have to see if it is indexed. I also have a set of FSA Mega Exo bearings although most of the damage is cosmetic from ham fisted mechanics.
  13. . R-sys spokes use hollow cylindrical carbon spokes.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  14. BB, I assume we talking sram here or do you get medium cage Shimano derailers?
  15. I bought my Mongoose many moons ago with a XT short cage derailleur. It originally came with a 46/36/24 non-compact crank and a 12-28 at the back. The only problem you have is that you can ?ONLY? use the top 2 to 3 sprockets when in granny gear. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I ?upgraded? it to 44/32/22 x 12-28 using the crank I bought from you. I can now use one or two sprocket more in granny gear. The biggest deference is the 32 chainring. I can see whey it is feasible to replace it with a 29 and then run a 2x9 system with a 34 big sprocket. In the Military race of the weekend my front shifter finally packed upped so I was stuck in the middle chain ring and is amazing what you can do with it.
  16. I have a stuffed 105 Octalink for you and with some digging I can find alot more intresting broken components.
  17. I would say the otherway round. Mountain King or Race King at the back with a Speed King on the front.
  18. Doesn't sound good . Does anybody know where one could get Formula?
  19. OK I am getting the idea.
  20. At the garage? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Just to clear something is it possible to convert a wire beaded tire to tubeless? Thanks for all of the feedback.
  21. I checked, Hayes HFX -Mag/9.
  22. for the KCNC or the Juicys?
  23. I am looking at converting my project bike to disc brakes. Cost wise the KCNC is a bargain but are they any good? Does anybody ride them?<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> What other entry level disc brakes would you recommend and were can I find them? I hear good thinks of the Furmula Oro?s but can?t find them as after market products.
