tumble its not the fact that something might have gone wrong that irks me. Even though Knox has stepped up which is good its simply a case of improper flaming.

And Martin my old friend i love you and your lack of reality too :stupid:

Maybe you should sit back and relax. read the thread again. but carefully this time.

Its the way he did it that got him flamed.

So drink a pill and go help your R40m client......

Oooh - what am I supposed to be? Scared of a little flaming? I have no problem in feeding trolls biscuits all day.

Something that is lacking in most small businesses is proper policies and procedures.

When you pick up a new car, there is a 200 point check list and the salesman (if he is any good) will not let you drive off the showroom floor until he is happy that you know all that there is to know about the product.

I love shopping at CWC (online and in real life) but there are only certain people that I'll talk to there. Like many businesses they have very good personnel and average personnel.

What should have happened here:

- Bike assembly should have a standard procedure to check that everything was done properly

- When the salesman called the client, he should have asked if they could assist with the bike setup. This would have helped the client to understand that collecting a new bike is not something that you do quickly on a Friday afternoon after work. It takes time to take delivery of a bike.

- The salesman should have gone over the whole bike with the client. Show how to adjust shifters (barrel twisting for small adjustments)

- Show where to adjust brakes

- Show how to set up the shocks and how rebound etc works

- Any items that may need adjusting later (like tubeless tire pressure etc) should be brought under the attention to the client.

- The salesman should have phoned the client on Monday to enquire if she was happy with her purchase and if there were anything that was maybe not 100%.

While the rant was out of place, I would encourage CWC to look at their internal procedures and policies to ensure that a similar level of service is received from all the sales staff.

I dont think Nox111 is out of line.... i'v had some LBS experiences that drove me up the wall. I know CWC are a cut above, but Criss snr. needs to hear this so he knows what is happening in his shop. He cant personally be everywhere all the time. I have a business and i would rather know about things like this, rather then the custmer phone the shop and the guy who did the wrongs sorts it out quietly.. the owners need to know.

I do not know CWC as I am in the old Transvaal, however, reading through many of the posts, if the guy or lady phoned Chris, he would probably fix everthing at no cost. The problem I have in this country, and probably all over, Chris would probably say that he would fix everything, but they had to bring the bike back to the shop, and that is my problem.

I buy something. Find out at home things were not done 100%, so now I once again have to get into my car, drive back so they can fix their stuff-up. They will not pay you your time or travelling, and all of this could have been saved if only they did their work right the first time, which one actually expects, since you pay for that.

My 5c worth!!

Oh come on! Why should the OP give CWC the chance to correct the buyers issues? Shouldn't the bike have left the store 100% fixed, tuned and dailed in? The money that the buyer paid with was 100% legit and ok, so the equipment should be too!

In principle, when buying ANYTHING, I go over it with a fine toothed comb! These days you can't trust anyone!

I don't blame the OP for ranting on a forum, I would rather have left the cycles shop name out of it. That way it isn't personal and other people are still warned and will check the bikes better in future no matter what shop they got it from.

Me personally, I'm sick and tired of buying things and having to take them back. I work and have a kid so time is limited and taking things back often interferes with my cycling time. The worst is car shops. I've had 2 different makes of car that I've had to take back to the shop more than 4 times. In the end I gave up and sold the cars.

If we were to give our customers stuff that wasn't right the first time, we would go out of business. No excuse for sloppy work.

Saying that, I now take my bike to a workshop and they have given me the bike back in perfect working order each time and after all my bad experiences, its a breath of fresh air.

Maybe you should contact them and not use a public forum for this.

I am not taking sides here, but always had good service from them and if they made a honest mistake I can promise you they will fix it

+ 1... you should get the thing in 100% working order/set up in the first place!

Wondering if it was another bike shop if it would have reached this amount of posts... :(

Thanks Chris,

not trying to bash you guys as I said, this might be a very isolated case.

She as I said, moved to PE, so the bike is unfortunately not around here anymore.

Luckily I know my way around a set of tools, so I sorted out all the pressures, bolt tightening etc.

Thanks for the reply - well appreciated!

So then, what you moaning about. Can we just have one day without anybody moaning.

I had a rear shock, from a certain shock manufacturer, fixed by a certain bike shop. Waited two weeks for it because said shock company struggled to find the parts, eventually got it, did one race with it and it still lost all the air, doing the MTB Argus the weekend and after a call to this certain bike shop they assured me that they will be able to fixed the rear shock before the weekend.
