Yes, that is about the only thing I can manage down my throat before a race, I find it extremely hard to eat before a race

Stick with oats. Try this, when cooking them, add a handfull of whole peeled garlic cloves, don't use salt or sugar.

 

Yes, I find 1x roughly chopped onion and a tablespoon of bovril helps the digestive process. Plop a dollop of cottage cheese on top and it goes down a treat.

The thing with the garlic is what was fed to my wife by her parents daily when she was growing up. Needless to say, she detests oats these days.

What form does Future Life come in? Cereal or bars?

excuse my ignorance....

 

 

It's a cereal, mixes into a smooth porridge texture. Use with water or with milk. It's already fairly sweet and sugar will just screw up the "low GI". You can also use it as a drink when very dilute. And yes, it does take a bit of searching for - I think they've underestimated how quickly cyclists are picking up on it.

That also sounds like an option. This morning I had peanut butter and jam sandwiches (White bread) and to my suprise they been keeping me going since 9am :)

 

**without a workout or cycling**

thats on weekends before riding or whatever training.

 

I ride twice a week in the mornings but easy, can't go more than an hour so I don't eat anything before that. Just have water.

When I swim intervals in the morning I have 1 slice with honey @ 4, and after that I have two slices with egg.

So by 6:40 I've had 3 slices of toast, honey and egg and a fruit juice.

I agree that it does taste like pronutro which is great for me. I love pronutro, but the milk affects my sinus. Now i get to have something similar, but with water :-)

excuse my ignorance....

try enervits new product pre sport a low Gi carbohydrate jelly,it works,taken 45 min before a race or ride,no breakfast required
