I see the argus mtb challenge photos are out and on actionphoto.net.

the cost for a digital copy is R47.60, that is after a 10% discount!

Am I the only one that thinks this is ridicilously expensive for a digital copy that gets mailed to you? this is also the cheapest option as the hard copies are more pricy.

Actually that is dirt cheap! Got a picture of my car (and I didn't even order it) in the mail recently for R800. Who is JMPD anyway?

I also got some of those...mmmm...

With the cost of equipment, dirt cheap. As you say, it's the cheapest option, atually works out well since you have a soft copy that you can print yourself.

Half the price compared to some companys doing the same, Cycle Challenge in 2009 was R90.

Hallo SFDT

Ja R 47.60 is baie maar neem in ag jy kan nou by Photot First of enige foto plek jou foto gaan print, vergroot soos jy wil of wat ook al. Ek het na die OFM op action photo ook die digitale fotos gekoop en is nie spyt.

Cheers

Ek is ook n fotograaf in my af tyd.

Professional sports photographers charge R50 - R100 per photo regardless of sport, venue or event. They also have to make a living and cover their costs...consider the following:

Camera and lens: R65 000

Transport and other costs to a 1-day event: R500

Computer equipment: R50 000

Talent and experience: priceless

etc etc etc

Compare the photographer fees to a plumber, locksmith or electrician @ R500 per call out....(15min)

You are paying for the use of their equipment, and their time, their transport and their skill. If the pic is out of focus, send it back. If it is not, pay what seems to be a reasonable price, and move along.

Part time photographers will always tell you how cheap they could do it, but actually stump up the 100+k on bodies, lenses, cards, computers, software (Photoshop is over ten grand if you don't steal it :o) ), then sit there all day shooting, and all night processing, and you might get a slightly altered view.

50 ronts sounds pretty cheap, IMHO

i agree! wayyee too expensive.. it has to really be a great priceless pic before i'll buy!

This is the thing, how do you define "priceless" ? ... For bulk shoots like this, even with a capture ratio of 8/10 it's near impossible to guarantee every single image, never mind abstract "priceless" images.

Shot for these guys before, creativity goes out the window when you're expected focus on just capturing the image of each participant.

With one Cycle Challenge I had over 5000 actuations on the camera, no time to look for angles etc ...

Glad it's not my own equipment.
