Alonso was in a Mclaren next to him and he rode circles around Alonso.

*drove - last time i checked you drive cars haha.

i wouldnt call ending the year equal on points against a 'rookie' that completed almost 10000km of testing before he got a seat in arguably the best car on he grid...in a team that was so blatantly pro Hamilton at the time - driving circles around him lol.

Proof = Hungary of 2007. Hamilton was Ron Dennis's prodigal child.

But thats the narrative of the Hamilton fans unfortunately. He 'Beat' a 2x WDC in his rookie season apparently and even though they ended equal on points....going by countback, lewlew is listed above nando in the final results lol. Mclaren were so busy with the infighting....kimi sneaked in under the radar and was gifted a WDC by massa at the last race of the year in brazil.

I'd love to see a modern Alonso vs Hamilton in equally crap cars. we all know who would start whining and give up first....

And anyhow...Hamilton was beaten by rosberg to a wdc as well as Button over a season. nuf said.  :whistling:

Edit: I also cant wait for Alo to just be somewhere around the top 5 next year. just like I hope vettel finds his mojo again,..like I hope Perez pulls finger, like a

hope ferrari's spaghetti culture doesn't ruin another f1 car and Leclerc and Sainz are up there. I hope mclaren gets a speed boost with the merc PU and Dani Rix is up there. We have for the first time in a long while the prospect of an epic battle up front.   I want them all to be in there causing headaches to a team/guy who has had it easy the past 6 years.

Think you mixing up the years here.

Kimi was gifted by ron dennis making a blunder, lewis shoud have won that year.

Massa was the following year when lewis won when Glock made an error.

However, going back to 2007, hamilton out drove alonso and should have been champ but there was another factor at play here. That was the espionage sage between mclaren and ferrari and mclaren were penalised with all their points. Had hamilton won it would have been a controversy of note seeing as they effectively cheated so i suspect ROn did not actually err, he was compelled to make sure neither hamilton nor alonso won otherwise ferrari would of scalped the FIA.

But , we wil never know the true story here

Massa was leading the whole race in brazil and pulled over so that kimi could win his wdc - is what i meant lol. Mclaren should have won that year is what i meant too, but kimi just collected the podium spots and was able to snatch the wdc when massa ‘gifted’ it to him in brazil 2007 - is what I meant hehe. If massa didnt let kimi through, lewis would have been wdc on countback.

Im not confusing the years ????

PPS: thats my version and i’m sticking with it. Remember back then, team orders were banned. So the only way to get kimi past massa on track was orchestrating it through a pitstop ????

Edit: race result was kimi/massa/nando

And yes...we all know timo glock gifted hamilton his 2008 wdc.

I remember wanting to cry on behalf of the poor massa family. Soul crushing. But he was very gracious in defeat, even though he was was a WDC for 30s or so....something hamilton still lacks to this day imo.

Anyway, all it proves is that MS would have been a 9x WDC if he drove for ferrari 2007/2008 still.

Only difference being he would have wrapped the titles up by Spa already because of mclaren tripping over themselves.

/comic sans/ - where applicable lol

Back to Ham vs Alo:

I remember reading this on drivetribe:

https://drivetribe.com/p/just-how-good-is-fernando-alonso-EZFdkDc1T56hXk3VVk3t1A?iid=WcaYX75kQC-Ou0euoSA-YA

Head to head over a season, alo has only been bested by trulli (known for his quali speed, but the trulli train in the race) and button. But those were the god aweful honda-mac formative years circa 2015 where they didnt even make the grid on a few occasions...so that one is a tossup for all intents and purposes.

The statistics suggest Alo is the most successful driver against his team mates, holding the largest margin over a year. One could argue that Ham had better team mates though. But then Alo also made kimi look silly at ferrari...and every other “next best star” he got paired with since. Button also beat hamilton over a year. So maybe button is the GOAT? Rosberg beat Ham in a totle race so maybe he’s the GOAT? Lol

All i know is...max will put them all in the wall to win, and 2021 will be career defining for Ocon. He can either become only third person to best Alo or he’s f1 career will be over soon. I think renault might be keen on Gasly.

Ok. Understand your view. But disagree.

2007 the championship was gifted by Ron Dennis making a diabolical decision in China. Hamilton was left out on knackered tyres which not only cost him the race but also the championship. He only had to finish second there.

But the controversy would never have died down if that had happened. And maybe that is why Hamilton now makes his own decisions sometimes. That musta hurt back then.

Let’s hope 2021 is exciting and full of intrigue. Can’t see Hamilton not winning again. But of course he needs a contract first.

Merc has to drop the ball sooner or later. Yes their dominance is unprecedented, but history shows that this happens in cycles and to everyone. It is however also dependent on the rest of the teams getting their crap together. All we can hope for is a bit less speed for them and a bit more from the rest so it all equals out and we get something resembling the start of the 2012 season

I agree, he is wealthy beyond wildest dreams already. Its all ego now.

Fantastic racing driver but all this is tarnishing his record. LEts not forget how he humilated Alonso in his first season and but for a Ron dennis brain fart would have been champion in that season. Lewis is capable.

There was more going on behind the scenes there than we will ever know - it was not just outright pace of Hamilton, he had much more support than Alonso, and when Alonso called McLaren out on that, they tried to act impartial
