They are just under R30k - good value for money!

Thats a pretty good price esp if it includes the Crossmax wheels

Won't be under R30k with the Crossmaxes - should be able to get one for around R27k with the stock Giant wheels...

Loving mine! Getting use to it, single track is taking a bit to get use to. Apparantly this bike is the lightest in its claas in stock form. Clearly Giant did some homework and the result is starting to resemble a cult following......

got mine for R31k with all the upgrades (wheels = tyres & slime, saddle, peddles & bar ends)

Those bikes look really nice but pimping them in the factory with those coloured housing and blue bits and bobs does not look good.

I got mine 7 October 2010. Believe that it must have been the 1st XL to arrive in SA. Had a Merida 96 before it.

I am absolutely loving the bike. I found it better in every single department than the 96. Even the single track is no problem. Handling is superb - I have however changed the stem from 110mm to 90mm and the bar from flat to riser as from an Anthem X2 (2010) - this made the diff.

How about a sudden improvement of 45minutes over a 70km race? (Same race, same route, same conditions, different bike)- one week apart.

Only other changes made:

Conti Mountain King 2.4 in front and Race King 2.2 (running tubeless) - brilliant with no issues yet.

Crank Brother Candy 3 pedals - never SPD again!

Also found the saddle terrible - but after 6 months, no more problems with it.

As I only mostly get to ride the bike on weekends - I will never get a 26" again. I get to ride much more technical stuff where I had to get off my 26" simply due to a lack of technical training/skill. Making every ride more enjoyable. Bottom line is that the bike feels safer!

Standoff - what bottle cage is on your bike?

I've got an Anthem X1 26er and have to admit that the 29er looks tempting.

PS: I'm always imprssed how you guys get your bikes to stand in thin air for your photos

Loving my Giant, I have a sliver L frame, also found the bike to be a bit heavy/unresponsive, so changed wheels to Stans ZTR, A2Z hubs, dubble butted spokes, Stan's tubless, Momsen bar ends, KCNC 90mm stem, KCNC seat post, Fzik Gobi saddle - very comfortable, egg beater 3 Titanium, trimmed standard flat bar to 660mm. Huge improvement with handling, from single track to downhill rocky technical stuff. Great bike and very underated in standard form. Total cost of mods +- R8k. Will be fitting 2 x 10 front crank set and carbon bar at some stage. As is bike weighs 11,3kg with pedals.

I am loving my Giant 29er

I went for the white/ble option (not keen on all that bling silver)

I swopped the saddle for a fizik gobi, and changed the wheelset to Mavic C29ssmax's

Did karkloof and Giants on it.

How was the giants? I believe it was 60kms instead of the anticipated 40kms.. That last 8kms through the gate to the finish line is quite something.

ja - it ended up being 58 km - 50 of tar and 8 of dirt road.

we had some dude from JHB bitching and moaning that he had to ride extra

good fast ride - 29er was a demon

even with cancelling the main race they were able to raise over R200 000
