What is the meanest Hill you train on?

Not quite, I did the Etape this year, take  Golf Club Terrace and make it 20km long and you have a typical Pyrenees climb.

 

In the Etape we did 5 climbs in 200km 4400m total ascent (Stage 15 of the Tour).

franschoek is 800 m of climbing? is pomp only 250?

I dont think franshoek is as steep... its a much more gradual climb

Franschoek is tough but I didn't find it as tough as Pompstasie and I had cycled about 80km before I did Franschoek. I have only done it once so maybe it was just a good day for me.

Thats what I meant  A hill that takes only ten minutes to reduce me to a quivering jelly blowing his gaskets, is at a gradient that these guys ride up for hours! Over and over!

Franschoek (from the F'hoek side) is 7 km long and 437 m vertical climbing.  This gives a gradient of 6.3%.  Not so bad.

Not sooo long, but it still hurts.
