and I just saw your post about filters, so chances are he used filters to allow a 5 minute exposure!

nice inspiration to get some night time shots Wyatt!

got it, what would happen to those lights if you went to 5 minutes ?

For 5 minutes the aim would have been purely to get movement.

Like cars or planes.

I would have gone to an ND 4 filter.

ISO the lowest possible 100 in my case.

On my 70-200 lens i can go as high as f 32, so depending on what the light meter says the f-stop will determine the correct exposure.

No, it's all about getting the correct exposure.

Lower ISO and the darker the image, narrower the aperture and also the darker the image.

For real long shots like that an ND filter can be added to reduce light even more.

100 ISO

F22 aperture and one can do miracles as long as you have a good tripod.

Something to try from my balcony on the next clear night...

Good idea

Question for those that know this stuff:

What would a fireworks display look like if you tried this long exposure thing over say 5 or 10 minutes? The fire works display I'm thinking of takes place about 3 km's from my balcony

EDIT:and usually carries on for about 20 - 25 minutes
